Echoing this festive spirit, the Pre-primary students of The Indian School celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with much zeal and zest in a virtual assembly on 10 September 2021. Ganesha is the first to be worshiped among all the gods in Hindu mythology. He is known as the God of prosperity and wisdom who removes all obstacles, bestows happiness, and spreads peace. The special assembly commenced on a spiritual note with the chanting of the famous Ganesh shloka by young Yuvraj. “Vakratunda Mahakaya Surya Koti Samaprabha | Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarva-Kaaryeshu Sarvadaa || The shloka translates as : O Lord (Ganesha), who has a huge body, curved elephant trunk and whose brilliance is equal to billions of Suns, May always remove all obstacles from my endeavours. The little Indianites took turns and spoke about the festival and its significance. The keen toddlers presented a skit on the importance of the moral virtues of devotion and obedience, synonymous with the attributes exhibited by Lord Ganesh towards his parents.
