Synopsis Mumbai police has made elaborate security arrangement for smooth Ganpati immersion. "From 10am on September 9 to 6am on September 10, 74 roads will be kept shut, 54 roads will be made one way, goods vehicles will be banned on 57 roads and parking restrictions will be imposed at 114 places," Mumbai Police said in a traffic advisory. Here is a list of key roads that will be closed today: * Sandhurst Road will be closed from Marine Drive to its Junction with Opera House and further up to its junction with Prarthana Samaj. The Wadi Bunder bridge shall be closed, West to East. * JSS Road will be closed from Princess Street to Thakurdwar Junction. * CP Tank Road will be closed from Madhav Baug to CP Tank Circle. * NM Joshi Marg will be closed from Chinchpokli Junction to Khatao Mill. * BA Road will be closed from its junction with Bharatmata to Bawla Compound. * LBS Marg will be closed from North Modela light signal junction to toll naka at Mulund and vehicles from both sides will be diverted to south-bound. Mumbai all set for Ganpati Visarjan 2022

Mumbai has geared up for Ganpati visarjan today - the first public visarjan of the city’s biggest mandals, post the pandemic. Not just the mandals, the devotees and the city’s Traffic Police but every Mumbaikar is excited about this massive festive moment when the 10 day Ganpati idols are taken out in a procession towards the natural and artificial immersion spots. The Mumbai Traffic Police have said that in all, 74 roads will be closed to traffic; 54 roads will only allow vehicles going one way; 57 roads won’t allow any movement of heavy vehicles; and 114 locations across Mumbai, will have parking restrictions. The police have also asked mandals and devotees to take note of the list of bridges that are unsafe for processions. Ganpati mandals in the city are following all government and police protocols and keeping in mind additional safety measures today. Aniket Singh, a representative from the Ganesh Galli Ganesotsav, Mumbai Cha Raja, told Bombay Times, “Visarjan this year shall be the same as pre-covid times.
