Christian Gastaldi: contemporary French Painter

The French artist Christian Gastaldi, born in Sète, France, in 1960, is a painter who substitutes oil and acrylic painting with sections of posters and magazines, replacing brushstrokes with hand-made tears. His paintings recompose lines and colours from these torn papers to produce new graphic and poetic compositions. The body: the foundation of the creative process At the beginning of his scientific career, Gastaldi spent a great deal of time living abroad. He taught himself art and later, in 2005, decided to dedicate himself completely to the discipline. The artist, who is sporty, needed to transfer his body’s energy into a creative process in which his body felt completely engaged. He creates his work standing up and uses his hands to manipulate the materials. A painter without paint, a poet without words If Gastaldi’s work constitutes paintings without paint, then it can also be considered poetry without words. The artist finds the material for his painting-poetry mainly in old street posters, which experience the indifference of those who pass by. He composes his artistic work like a poet, seeking a graphic equivalent of what would be the writer’s style and producing his art on the fixed space of the canvas. Gastaldi destroys the words on the posters, keeping only fragments of letters — the desperate attempts of communication. International launch The artist’s graphic and chromatic balance has led to numerous international exhibitions and residencies: in F...

Trauma, pain, suffering, sleepless nights, missed work. I ended up leaving this office because of the horrible mismanagement of my care. They didn’t know why I was in pain and they thought I had trigeminal neuralgia. Terrible. I seeked a second opinion. New doctors had to perform the bridge and root canal along with another root canal all over again AND root canal surgery (Apicoectomy) to fix this mess he caused me. When I found out what was wrong with me, I called his office and told them. I asked for a call back from him. It took Dr. Gastaldi a week to call me back. I was with all infection in my sinus along with inflamed necrotic dead root nerves for months and he couldn’t find 5 minutes in his day to call me back to discuss. My case was not urgent to him. It was clear he didn’t want to talk to me. When I eventually spoke to him 10 days later, he lied about talking to my root canal specialist. Another doctor spoke on his behalf. I caught him in a lie on top of this! I got my insurance involved and they found that he was NOT in standard of care. THE WAS TH...

According to the author Philip Burden, Gastaldi's 1548 edition of Geography, "was the most comprehensive atlas produced between Martin Geographia of 1513, and the Abraham Theatrum of 1570," because it included regional maps of the Americas. Gastaldi was described by one contemporary as the 'most excellent Piedmontese cosmographer.' Among his other works is the [ citation needed] References [ ] • .
