By India Today News Desk: Cyclone 'Biparjoy' intensified into a very severe storm as it moved nearly northwards with a speed of 2 kmph in the last 6 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday. In its latest bulletin updated at 9:00 am (IST) on Wednesday, the IMD stated that the cyclone is likely to move nearly northwards in the next 24 hours, while retaining its intensity. It would then move north-northwestwards in the next 3 days. Severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy over eastcentral and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea lays about 890 km west-southwest of Goa. It is likely to move nearly northwards and intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hrs: India Meteorological Department As of 2:30 am on June 7, the cyclonic storm remained stationary for three hours, approximately 900 km west-southwest of Goa, 1020 km southwest of Mumbai, 1090 km south-southwest of Porbandar, and 1380 km south of Karachi. The IMD has issued a wind warning for the next five days in these regions. On June 7, gale winds with speeds of 80-90 kmph, gusting up to 100 kmph, are likely to prevail over the east-central Arabian Sea and adjoining areas of the west-central and southeast Arabian Sea.
