Tasnim becomes 1st player from Guj to be in Uber Cup

Gujarat’s brightest and most talented shuttler, Tasnim Mir, has done it again! The 16-year-old from Mehsana has displayed maturity beyond her age and her exploits on the court has made her fit to be selected in the Indian Uber Cup Finals squad – to be spearheaded by Saina Nehwal – that will be played in Aarhus, Denmark from October 9-17. Tasnim, who is currently No. 1 in the Badminton Association of India’s U-19 rankings, recently won a junior international tournament in Bulgaria last month. With her stellar performance in both national and international tournaments over the last few years, she has shown that she is indeed a champion material. The No. 1 under-19 player in India and No. 3 in the world, the highly talented shuttler has proved to be the most promising player Gujarat has ever produced, winning bronze at the Junior World Badminton Championship in Netherland and also lifting the Asian Junior (U-15) title in Jakarta two years ago. “It is a big moment for her as she is the first player from Gujarat to be selected for such a prestigious event. It will be a great experience playing alongside Saina, as she will be able to gain a lot of experience. On the penultimate day's play, Ali Mir played a whopping 10 matches which meant he was literally on the court throughout the day.
