Delhi CM, MLA Salary: The salaries and allowances of Delhi MLAs and Ministers have been increased to more than 66 per cent. According to a notification from the Law Department of the Delhi government, the MLAs will now get Rs 90,000 every month, an increase from Rs 54,000. According to the notification, the salary and allowances of the Chief Minister and Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, chief whip and leader of the opposition have also been increased from the existing Rs 72,000 to Rs 1,70,000 per month. As per the notification, the basic salary of the legislators has increased from Rs 12,000 monthly to Rs 30,000 and that of ministers from Rs 20,000 to Rs 60,000 per month. The daily allowance has also increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500. In July 2022, the Delhi Assembly passed a proposal to increase the salary of MLAs and ministers. After getting the President`s approval for this proposal, the Law Department has issued a notification for a salary hike. The salary hike for the legislator will be effective from February 14 when the President gave her assent to the move. Gujarat Assembly increases MLAs' salary by at least Rs 45,000

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Assembly passed a bill on Wednesday by which the salaries of the MLAs, ministers, speaker, deputy speaker and leader of opposition will go up by at least Rs 45,000 a month. Accordingly, the monthly salary of the MLAs will be hiked to Rs 1.16 lakh as against the existing Rs 70,727, a rise of about 64 per cent, while those of the ministers, Assembly speaker, deputy speaker and leader of opposition will go up to Rs 1.32 lakh from Rs 86,000, an increase of about 54 per cent. The revised salaries will come into effect retrospectively from February 2017, with a disbursal of Rs 6 crore in arrears. The new remuneration structure will put an extra burden of Rs 10 crore annually on the state treasury. The Salaries and Allowances of Members, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Ministers and Leader of Opposition Laws (Amendment) Bill 2018 was introduced in the House by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Pradipsinh Jadeja and passed unanimously. Under the MLA local area development fund scheme, every MLA can recommend or suggest developmental work worth Rs 1.5 crore in their constituency. A total of 151, or 83 per cent, of the 182 MLAs elected in the recent Assembly polls in Gujarat are 'crorepatis' (worth over Rs 1 crore), up from 141 in the 2017 polls, as per a study conducted by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Gujarat Election Watch. The study showed the ruling BJP has 132 crorepati MLAs, followed by 14 of the Congress, all three Independents, and one each of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Samajwadi Party. The BJP won the seventh straight term in Gujarat by winning a record 156 seats in the 182-member House. With the exception of Bihar (which brought in the cuts through rules), all the other states promulgated Ordinances to bring the changes into effect. Assam and Maharashtra are in the process of cutting legislators’ salaries, and in Haryana, political parties have agreed that their MLAs will give up a percentage of their pay.
