THE 10 BEST Guwahati Tours for 2023 (with Prices)

Grand Eastern Holidays is a local travel agency from North East and that’s why we preferred them instead of any other online company like MMT or Yatra. We had very bad experience with those online sites earlier, so we were determined that for our North East trip we would go with an agency who is native to this place. And we found this exceptional agency in tripadvisor. We were so impressed with their reviews and approached them. At the very first communications we got to know that they are knowledgeable about the areas we wanted to visit and extremely attentive to the detail of our holiday. They took their time to get to know our requirements over the phone and so can make suggestions that improve the planned itinery. There was not one hitch in 2 weeks of our journey. Even the driver was on time every day and all the lodges were clean and perfect to our needs. The level of customer service was outstanding. Our holiday itself was a wonderful blend of culture, education, relaxation with little bit of adventure - in which we had confidence and felt safe. From the history and stunning visual delights of eastern Himalayan town of Tawang to the wild treasures of Kaziranga Park in Assam - plus some vibrant city life of Shillong - this holday had it all. We took a Kaziranga and Tawang trip through Grand Eastern. Right from inquiry to booking to travel, everything was extremely professional and with attention to detail. All the stay arranged were extremely comfortable, great food a...

Umananda Temple, Guwahati

Umananda Devaloi is a Shiva temple located at the Umananda Island (Peacock Island) in the middle of river. It is known as the smallest inhabited riverine island in the world. Country boats that are available on the bank of Brahmaputra take the visitors to the island. The hill on which the temple has been built is known as Bhasmacala. It was built in 1694CE in the order of King Gadadhar Singha but was broken down by an earthquake in 1867. This a shiva temple on peacock island in the middle of the bramaputra river in guwati. I really had great expectations when I planned the visit to the island. In thd end, it was a little disappointing overall. It eventually took us nearly 2 hrs for darshan simply because the pandits were only interested in collecting money from each devotee The journey to the island is via a government ferry or private one. My advice will be to take thd private one, they are more expensive but run more frequently. We ended up waiting for more than 90 minutes for the ferry to bring us back. It is an ancient shiva parvati temple on an island created in the middle of bhramaputra river. It is a holy place and every hour there is a ferry service that takes you too and fro. For the govt ferry which is cheaper at 20 rs per adult by jan 2022 rates, you have to register online post covid. Also they wait for one hour on the island and next one leaves after two hours or so. The temple is at a height and requires a little climb. Worth going here but take directions fro...
