HP Victus 16 Review

I was picked to write the "20 Most Influential PCs" feature for PCMag's 40th Anniversary coverage because I remember them all—I started on a TRS-80 magazine in 1982 and served as editor of Computer Shopper when it was a 700-page monthly. I was later the editor in chief of Home Office Computing, a magazine that promoted using tech to work from home two decades before a pandemic made it standard practice. Even in semiretirement in Bradenton, Florida, I can't stop playing with toys and telling people what gear to buy. HP Victus 16 CPU temperatures

I've got a new laptop Victus 16 e-0000 (2V8Z4AV) with ryzen 5 5600h that has a problem with CPU temperature: 1. With a 100% Maximum processor state inPower Options it goes to 102℃ in a minute in a system stability test (AIDA64); 2. With a 99%Maximum processor state inPower Options it stays near 85-90℃ system stability test (AIDA64). In this case cpu and gpu 100% loaded; GPU temperature in all tests is below 75℃. I probably would think that 90 is ok but it doesnt work like this in games. While playing games that use 100% of gpu, cpu temperature also goes to 100℃ in 1-3 minuteseven when it's loaded on 20-40% and stays at this level. So, 1. Is it ok for this CPU to work at 100 ℃? Maybe I'm wrong while thinking it is a problem. 2. Is there any way to force cpu to work on lower temperatures in game or there's a big chance that I have to go to repair service? I had high temperatures when i play elden ring my cpu temp reaches 101c to 102c also when i play cod warzone it reaches to 99c to 101c the only solution i find to make the the temperature lower is by disabling the turbo boost now my cpu temp while playing elden ring and warzone is at 82c to 88c. hp victus ryzen 5600h nvidia 3050ti † The opinions expressed above are the personal opinions of the authors, not of HP. HP Victus 15 Review: Gaming On the Low

PC gaming can be expensive, and the barrier for even entry-level hardware can still be high. Enter the HP Victus 15 a low-cost ($799 as configured) gaming laptop, which comes with serviceable but meager specs such as an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU and Intel Core i5-12450H CPU. It also sports a 15.6-inch display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and 1920 x 1080 resolution, alongside a clean design that can blend into any environment. Our tests show that the Victus 15 can handle most contemporary tiles in 1080p at high or medium settings. Other, more expensive configurations from HP than the one we tested have better GPUs but at higher prices. If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to start PC gaming and aren’t concerned with playing with full power, the Victus 15 may be the laptop for you. However, if you spend a little more, you may get a bit more bang for your gaming buck. We reviewed the HP Victus 15 in dark silver, but the HP Victus 15 is also available in white and blue. The laptop has a smooth chassis with a large, prominent, reflective V in the middle. Underneath it, in between the hinges, it says Victus, just in case the V didn’t clue you in. The back of the Victus has a large cutout where the vents are. Under the laptop, near one of its feet, there are grated vents. On either side near the feet are two speaker cutouts. When you open up the laptop, there’s a thick bezel underneath the 15.6-inch display, which also has a giant V. Below are the main speakers featuring a st...
