Gori Tere Pyaar Mein review: Kareena, Imran make a boring film!

Tooh (Bum). Between Bigg Boss, KBC and Comedy Nights With Kapil, TV watchers have seen Kareena Kapoor Khan and Imran Khan all over the place, shaking their booty-shooties trying to get us excited about their latest release – Punit Malhotra’s Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. No one could have escaped this song, because if not on TV, then it’s on loop at every wedding sangeet. Unfortunately, what was the highlight of all promotional activity of GTPM is pretty much the highlight of the movie too. We haven’t had a light, feelgood rom-com in a while and I walked in really wanting to like this movie. Also, the alternative was Sunny Paaji’s Singh Saab The Great and that title is all you really need to know to stay away from it. Imran Khan's party can now easily fit in rickshaw following defections: PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Anti-terrorist court grants bail to Pakistan former PM Imran Khan In GTPM, we are introduced first to Sriram Venkat (Imran Khan), a highly unconvincing America-educated Tamilian architect from Bangalore. He's shallow and self-centred and his parents are fed up of him not doing anything significant with his life. In something of a final straw, the ‘kaala dappa’ of the family bunks his own grandfather's funeral to score with a girl he just met at a club and fortifies his father’s poor opinion of him. Like every other Indian parent you and I know, the only solution to life, the universe and everything is marriage. So Sriram’s parents figure they should get him on that plan ...

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! Review

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! Movie Poster Rating: 3/5 Stars (Three Stars) Star cast: Imran Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Nizhalgal Ravi. Director: Punit Malhotra What’s Good: A deliciously appealing story that is both relatable and sparkling for its humor, wit and romantic crises. What’s Bad: Imran’s three tier insipid expressions and the overdrawn filmy climax. Loo break: Fewer than usual. Watch or Not?: It comes as a pleasant surprise when director Punit Malhotra has upped his standard by delivering a cutesy and enjoyable romantic comedy. Aided with the wicked chemistry of Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! conjures up a charmingly enviable romantic comedy which is delightful and breezy without an ounce of melodrama. The subtle cool candour isn’t novel but this run-in-the-mill story is exceptionally endearing. User Rating: Sriram (Imran) is a good for nothing, party animal and a perfect bachelor whose family decides to get him married to Vasudha (Shraddha) to settle him down. While Vasudha is already in love with the righteous Kamal, she makes Sriram realize his love for ex- girlfriend Dia (Kareena Kapoor). Sriram and Dia broke up on ideological differences as he found her hypocritical and she thought he is too self centered. However, once Sriram realizes that he loves her beyond his self centered approach for life, he makes a journey to an obscure village called Jhumli to win back the love of his life. Amidst the love and romance, S...
