IPL 2023: “He’s the best”

Imran Tahir played with MS Dhoni for two different franchises- Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and won the IPL trophy in 2018 with CSK. He heaped praise on MS Dhoni for being wonderful and helpful to spinners in his team. He was also in awe of Dhoni’s wicketkeeping skills and said that it’s the hard work behind the scenes and his fitness that’s made him what he is today. Tahir, who was part of the RPS team with Dhoni recalled his lightning-fast stumping of AB de Villiers in an IPL 2017 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Dhoni showed his master class as he took the bails off in a flash after the RCB star batsman AB de Villiers was beaten by the flight of leg-spinner Imran Tahir. Recalling the wicket of RCB’s AB de Villiers when Dhoni stumped him out at lightning-fast speed, Tahir said on the Lallantop show: "I do watch highlights of that stumping where all three stumps were uprooted within seconds.” IPL 2023: “Deserves a farewell tour around the country,” Styris wants Dhoni to clear air regarding his retirement ” Hard work. He does so much hard work and he’s so fit. Not just in stumping but between the wickets he is one of the fastest. He does all his hard work behind the scenes. I too haven’t seen any wicketkeeper stumping with that much speed,” Tahir added. VIDEO: IN A FLASH! Absolute boss behind the stumps - Tahir went unsold in the IPL 2022 auction after CSK released him in 2021. Currently, h...

Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Harbhajan Singh said, “Virat Kohli will have to take the responsibility to keep RCB up. His partnership with Faf will be crucial. Virat and Faf are in good form and this will always give relief to RCB.”

MS Dhoni or AB de Villiers? Imran Tahir names the best finisher of IPL

Former South African spinner Imran Tahir has picked the better finisher in the MS Dhoni and AB de Villiers. Both Dhoni and De Villiers are widely considered as two of the best finishers and have a proven track record of finishing games for their respective teams. Their batting skills, impressive temperament, and ability to turn the game on its head make them two of the best game-changers in the tournament’s history. Dhoni, who is currently leading Similarly, De Villiers has a wide range of shots and is particularly good at taking the bowlers to the cleaners in the slog overs. He has played several match-winning innings for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), which has earned him a huge fan following. But who between the two legends is the better finisher? Well, the tough question was asked to Tahir while he was doing commentary for Star Sports. Tahir termed the question as quite difficult but eventually went with his former teammate De Villiers. The spin maestro reckoned he hasn’t seen a better player than De Villiers. “Mujhe muskil me daal diya hai lekin dekhein mai samjhata hu ki modern cricket ka jo maine sabse best player dekha hai wo maine ye kaha bhi hai to mai usi pe atal rahunga and that’s ABD. (You have put me under the pump, but as far as I think, I have not seen anyone better than ABD [AB de Villiers]. So, I would stick to him.),” said Tahir. “Maine use bada player nahi dekha. Wo finishing ke role mein kare ya upar se inning ko build karne ke role me rahe, Ma...

IPL 2023: Ravindra Jadeja didn't bowl even one bad ball vs SRH, says Harbhajan Singh

By India Today Sports Desk: Harbhajan Singh heaped praise on Ravindra Jadeja for his Player Of The Match performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday and said that he didn't even bowl one bad ball during his spell at Chepauk. Jadeja was the star of the show for CSK with the ball as he picked up the wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi and Mayank Agarwal and ended up with figures of 3/22 in his four overs. "The shot options they chose were wrong. Mayank Agarwal came out of the crease so early. He gave a telegram that he was going to come out and gave the bowler an opportunity to see him and bowl slightly wider," said Harbhajan. Imran Tahir was asked whether MS Dhoni would have told Jadeja during the time-out that he would be bowling a four-over spell and asked him to use the surface well. Tahir said that even if that's the case, Jadeja bowled at the right spot and at the right pace based on Dhoni's advice. "He might have said that but the spinners have to bowl at that spot, keep the right line and length and use the wicket properly. All these things are in the spinner's mind. He bowled at the right spot and the right pace based on the captain's advice," said Tahir.

IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants coaches should be blamed for team's loss vs RCB, says Imran Tahir

By India Today Sports Desk: Lucknow Super Giants failed to chase down 127 runs at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, 1 May while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the absence of KL Rahul, who did not open the innings due to injury, Lucknow imploded on a slow and sticky Ekana track. Former South Africa spinner Imran Tahir, while speaking on Star Sports said that the LSG coaches should also share the blame alongside their players for messing up the chase. LSG batters got out trying to play their shots in the second innings, fully knowing that it was difficult to play through the line on the Lucknow deck. Tahir analysed the game and felt that the directive to play their shots must have come from the LSG management, something that he considered a grave mistake. "Everyone knew that KL Rahul was injured and that he wouldn't bat. So their batters should have taken the responsibility and the coaches should have communicated with them and made a proper plan," Tahir said on Star Sports. "This is their home ground. What amazed me is that everyone went in and tried to play shots. I don't think those shots were required. You had seen Faf du Plessis, who concentrated primarily on singles and he is not like that. Normally he is an aggressive player, he is a player who goes and plays his shots," he further added. The former spinner lauded the Royal Challengers Bangalore side, who were pumped up for this game. RCB had lost their first encounter vs LSG in a final ball thriller at th...

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s ace batter Virat Kohli underwent torrid seasons in IPL 2021 and 2022, scoring averages of 22.73 and 29 in the two seasons, respectively. His form in international cricket also took a massive dip at the time, as he went over two and a half years without scoring a century, having scored 70 of them before across formats. He went on to score four more in ODIs and Tests before the IPL and in RCB’s first game this season against five-time champions Mumbai Indians, he scored an unbeaten 82 off 40 deliveries to roar back into form. As of now, before RCB’s match against MI on May 9, Tuesday, he has scored 419 runs in 10 innings, at an average of 46.56 and a strike rate of 135.16, including six half-centuries. Ahead of the blockbuster reverse fixture at Wankhede, former South Africa cricketer Imran Tahir praised Kohli and said that his consistency is the result of sheer hard work and dedication. A remarkable turnaround from Virat Kohli 👏🥳 — Wisden India (@WisdenIndia) Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Tahir said, “Virat Kohli has always had the urge to score runs. You can score maximum runs in one season, two or three seasons, but if you are successful in doing this for 15 co...
