This will be Afghanistan’s seventh Test match, and their first since March 2021. They have won three and lost three of their first six Test matches. Bangladesh’s last Test match was against Ireland, this April, at the same venue – a match they won by seven wickets. However, between the two events, Bangladesh had lost 0-2 to India at home, 0-2 in the West Indies, 0-1 against Sri Lanka at home, and 0-2 in South Africa: it has not been a great run for them.
