Climate chart - Indore The climate of Indore is subtropical, slightly tempered by altitude, with a rainy season from June to September or early October, due to the monsoon, and a dry season from mid-October to May. Since the dry season is long, the landscape is semi-arid. The city is located in central-west India, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, just south of the Tropic of Cancer and 550 meters (1,800 feet) above sea level. In winter, from mid-November to late February or early March, nights are cool, and sometimes even cold. In January 1991, the temperature dropped to 1 °C (34 °F), and further back in time, in February 1929 it even dropped to -2.8 °C (27 °F). From mid-March to early June, before the monsoon, it is very hot, and in the hottest periods the temperature can reach 44/45 °C (111/113 °F). At the end of May 1994, the temperature reached 46 °C (115 °F). Due to the altitude, from July to September, during the rainy days the maximum temperatures can remain around 24/25 °C (75/77 °F). Indore is in the path of tropical cyclones. Typically, cyclones occur from April to December, with two intensity peaks before and after the monsoon (from late April to early June and in October-November). Since we are far from the coast, the city is not hit by cyclones at full strength, however, they can bring heavy rainfall.
