LPL 2023 Auction: The much awaited Lanka Premier League (LPL) ends. Dilshan Madhushanka becomes the highest priced sold player for a sum of $92,000. Former India and Chennai Super Kings batter Suresh Raina name came on set but auctioneer decided not to call him. There is a new surprise, Wildcard auction to take place from pre budget as teams can sign overseas players by submitting names before Monday. The former India team cricketer who announced his retirement from the game a couple of years ago is now prepared for the next phase of his career. Following his retirement, Raina has not been a part of the CSK squad for the past two years. Suresh Raina has been a regular figure in the Indian Premier League. He has been a part of the tournament since 2008 till 2021. He missed the 2020 season when he returned home due to the Covid Pandemic. However, now Raina can take part in the LPL. As customary for Indian players, they will have to retire before taking part in other foreign leagues. As for the Lanka Premier League, the much anticipated auction takes place on 14th June. Around 360 players have registered themselves for the auction. The main tournament is set to commence from 31st July and conclude on 22nd August. The event is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, June 14, with many big names featuring in the auction. It is also worth noting that the fourth edition of the tournament is scheduled to begin on July 31. A total of 360 players will be up for bidding in the LPL 2023 auction, and it is also understood that the five franchises participating in the event will spend a maximum of US$500,000 each. It is also worth noting that several players who have already signed with the franchises are pre-selected players. Many big names like Babar Azam, Matthew Wade, Matheesha Pathirana, David Miller, and many more. Furthermore, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina also announced that he would be taking part in the auction as well. In the previous seasons, the franchises of the LPL used to pick their players from the drafts; the system will finally change in 2023 as they host their first-ever auction.
