With torrential rains lashing Kerala, on Monday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert to seven districts on Monday while the weather forecasting department sounded a red warning to Thiruvananthapuram and five other districts -- Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Idukki, Alappuzha, and Ernakulam -- on Tuesday. Besides, an orange alert has been sounded in Thrissur and Malappuram while a yellow alert was signalled in the remaining five districts. The district administration has declared a holiday on Friday for all educational institutions functioning at Palayam, Jagathy, Thampanoor, Vazhuthacaud, Thycaud, Fort, Chala, Vanchiyoor, Chakka, Kannanmoola, Sasthamangalam, Kowdiar, Kuravankonam, Kesavadasapuram, Nanthancode, Kunnukuzhy, Attakulangara and Muttada areas. This is in view of the protest called by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Yuva Morcha in front of the Legislative Assembly on the day. However, the University, Board and Higher Secondary examinations would be held as per schedule, an official release here said.

Though a holiday is given in Tamil Nadu tomorrow, Kerala declared the holiday for day after tomorrow.
