IPL 2023: Here’s the reason why Ishan Kishan didn’t come out to bat during MI vs GT clash in Qualifier 2

Mumbai Indians (MI) lost Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 to Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday (May 26) and were eliminated from the tournament following the defeat. Notably, Gujarat will now face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final of the IPL 2023. Speaking of MI’s loss, the Mumbai-based team missed the services of their destructive opener Ishan Kishan in the mammoth run chase. It is worth mentioning that Kishan was taken off the field midway through the first innings of the game and didn’t come out to bat for MI in the later half of the match, either. Asked to bat first, GT put up a great show as Subman Gill scored his third ton of the season, powering Gujarat to a daunting total of 233/3 in their allotted 20 overs. It all happened after the 16th over of Gujarat’s innings when Chris Jordan was putting on his cap, and Ishan was changing sides. During the process, both the MI players accidentally collided with each other, and Jordan’s elbow unfortunately hit Ishan in his left eye. The match was stopped after the incident, and the physiotherapist was called in for a check. Ultimately, the wicketkeeper had to leave the field, with Vishnu Vinod coming in as his concussion substitute to keep the wickets for the remaining overs. Coming back to the match, MI unfortunately lost the contest by a huge margin of 62 runs. Vishnu failed to make an impact and could contribute just five runs in the run chase. Although Suryakumar Yadav (61) ...

No place for Ishan Kishan: India's predicted XI for WTC final vs AUS

Who will keep wickets for India? Will Team India continue to back KS Bharat or Ishan Kishan is set for an audition? What about the bowling combination against Australia at The Oval? How many spinners and fast bowlers will In-form batters Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill will spearhead India's world-class batting lineup against Australia at The Oval (Reuters-ANI) After retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home, India will resume its rivalry with Australia in the summit clash of the ICC World Test Championship. The top-ranked side suffered a heartbreak in the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship as Team India was outclassed by New Zealand in the 2021 final. Even though it has been a decade since India last won an ICC trophy, head coach Bharat vs Kishan Rohit and Co. are already without the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer for the upcoming encounter. Replacing Pant in the Indian lineup, wicketkeeper Bharat is yet to cement his position. Both Bharat and Kishan have never played in England. It will be a bold decision if the Indian think-tank overlooks Bharat by allowing Kishan to make his Test debut in the WTC final. Skipper Rohit, in-form batters Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill will spearhead India's world-class batting lineup against Australia. After a successful season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), veteran Ajinkya Rahane is expected to repay the faith of the selectors in the final. All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran As...

We know they (CSK) have got plenty of spinners. We have played so many years of IPL, so we know how the wicket will play in Chennai, so we are ready for any conditions,” said Kishan on Friday. Dhoni has probably had his fairy-tale swansong with IPL 2023, the two-month-long tournament has raised a number of questions, from whether it would prove too tiring an overture to a tough season ahead to the shelf life remaining of once indispensable greats. With the World Test Championship final, Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup knocking on the door, My Kolkata looks at five questions posed by this year’s IPL that the national men's cricket team need to address. Where does Yashasvi Jaiswal play? (L-R) Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal The opener who has cemented his place across formats is Shubman Gill. With 890 runs in this IPL, including three centuries, he is in the form of his life and drawing comparisons with all-time greats. As of now, skipper Rohit Sharma will be the batter at the other end. But this choice inevitably brings to mind the name of Yashasvi Jaiswal. The southpaw was the Emerging Player of IPL 2023 after scoring 625 runs. He has been called to the WTC camp in England, but in all probability, will not get his national Test cap on Wednesday. If Jaiswal has to find his place in the Asia Cup and the World Cup teams, he will have to be installed in the top order. Since Gill and Sharma will not be disturbed in the short term, Jaiswal will have to come after them. Can he do as well lower d...
