A graduate from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, she always had the option of going back to her promising corporate job as a risk analyst. But it was the desire to help people by becoming an IAS officer that motivated Kishore to continue working towards her dream. As results for the coveted service was announced Tuesday, Kishore, who hails from Greater Noida, credited her family with imbibing in her a sense of duty and service very early on in life. Kishore, whose mother is a retired teacher and father an Air Force officer, said consistency and regular breaks amid preparations is the key to cracking the examination. Kishore did her schooling from Air Force Bal Bharti School, Lodhi Road. Her brother is a lawyer. Recalling her low points, she said, “Following my failed attempts, I reminded myself as to why I started in the first place. I started because I wanted to serve my country. During my low points, my family constantly told me how much they believed in me. Her outstanding achievement in the prestigious examination is a testament to her hard work and determination. The Union Public Service Commission released the UPSC CSE 2022 final results on Tuesday and Ishita's remarkable achievement as the topper, securing AIR 1, highlights the exceptional performance of women in this year's examination. Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N, and Smriti Mishra also secured top positions. Last year as well, the top spots in UPSC CSE were taken by women. The commission has recommended a total of 933 candidates (613 men and 320 women) for appointment to various services, marking the beginning of their journey in civil services. Ishita Kishore obtained a total of 1094 marks. She secured 901 total in her written examination and 193 marks in her personality test. She appeared for essay Paper 1, General Studies, General Studies II, General Studies III, General Studies IV. Her opted for Political Science and International Relations Paper V and VI as her optional subject paper.

Born in Greater Noida, Ishita hails from a family with a strong military background. Her father is an Indian Air Force officer. She is a graduate in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. She qualified UPSC 2022 examination with political science and international relations as her optional subject. Apart from academics, Ishita has been an active sportsperson. She is interested in football, taekwondo, and basketball. Ishita began her professional journey with joining Ernst and Young, where she contributed to their risk advisory department. She quit her corporate job in 2019, to pursue a career in the civil services. She thinks that the ability to operate as a team, leadership abilities and the ability to make rapid and timely decisions and the ability to excel in a wide variety of activities is essential to be an all-rounder as a civil servant. "One has to be disciplined and sincere to be able to achieve this," Ishita said. "I don't know what exactly worked for me but personally what I tried to do was work on my mains examinations by practicing, looking at previous years' question papers, making notes from newspapers and revising them. I think all of them together helped me clear the exams," Kishore tweeted.
