The Temple was Inaugurated on 5 April 1998 by Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the presence of Sushma Swaraj and Former CM of Delhi Sahib Singh Verma. It has one of largest temple complexes in the entire country and is located at Hare Krishna Hills in the East of Kailash area of Delhi. The outer complex of ISKCON Temple is decorated with intricate carvings and Stonework and also has many shops and fountains. Inside the main temple, the deities are adorned with rich clothes and Jewellery. The temple complex is a Centre for Vedic learning and organises many devotional lectures for devotees. The devotees in the temple can be seen chanting “Hare Rama Hare Krishna” which is the central theme in ISKCON Temple. ISKCON temple Delhi also organises multimedia shows displaying The Ramayana and The Mahabharata. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is the spiritual institution founded by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in July 1966 as a continuation of the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya sampradaya. ISKCON was personally directed by its Founder-Acarya Srila Prabhupada until his departure on November 14, 1977. ISKCON belongs to the Gaudiya-Vaishnava sampradaya, or denomination, a monotheistic tradition within the broad Hindu culture. It is scripturally based on the 5,000-year-old Sanskrit text Bhagavad-gita. In ISKCON’s incorporating document, Srila Prabhupada imparts the “Seven Purposes of ISKCON”: (1) To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at large and to educate all peoples in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world. Iskcon temple gears up for annual car festival

Preparations have started at the Iskcon Temple in Bhubaneswar for the annual car festival with artists from different parts of the state gathering to assemble and decorate the chariots for the sibling deities. Carpenters from Jagatsinghpur and designers from Pipili have made the temple premises their base and started their work, which is going on in full swing. “We are going to observe the festival with great fervour,” said chairman of the festival committee Banamali Jagannath Das. Iskcon is one of the most important temples in the city where the annual car festival is celebrated every year. Lakhs of devotees throng the temple for a glimpse of the deities. “I am very excited for the Rath Yatra. There are many like us, who cannot make it to Puri for the festival. The Rath Yatra at Iskcon Bhubaneswar is one of our best options,” said octogenarian Harihara Dash, an IRC vilage resident. “We follow the rituals of the Jagannath Temple in Puri and ensure that there are no delays,” said Das.
