• • • • • • What is the Islamic Year in 2022? In 2022, Muslims around the world will embrace the change of Islamic year from 1443 Hijri to 1444 Hijri. The Islamic new year, 1st of Muharram 1444, will faIl on the 30th July. Islamic calendar or Hijri (ٱلتَّقْوِيم ٱلْهِجْرِيّ‎ at-taqwīm al-hijrīy) consists of 12 lunar months in a year of 354 or 355 days. Each month changes when the new moon begins. Using this calendar, Muslims around the world determine the exact days of Islamic holidays and events. One of the primary Islamic events, Eid-ul Fitr or Hari Raya Puasa, is set by careful observation and calculation of the Hijri year. As we look forward to 1441 Hijri, we certainly hope that everyone is safe and well. Through the year, we experience new things and learn from them to grow as better humans.
