All James Bond Movies Ranked — The Best & Worst 007 Movies

J ames Bond movies make up one of the most successful and influential franchises in world cinema. A monument of popular culture in their own right, 007 movies have also inspired countless other flicks — not just spy movies, but also Star Wars , Indiana Jones , and Asian action cinema. But which entries in the James Bond film series are the best? Which of them remain worth your time as the decades wear on? Of course each generation has their own relationship with Bond and the leading actors who played him. Many believe there will only ever be one true 007 — the bush-browed Scottsman who started it all. Others are partial to Daniel Craig’s steely determination, Roger Moore’s suave charm, or Pierce Brosnan’s roguish bemusement. However, in this list we try to evaluate the movies not just on personal taste, but also filmmaking quality, originality, and how history has judged them. Below are all the James Bond movies ranked, from worst to best. A dreadfully dull affair. Had this been Roger Moore’s first outing as 007, and not Live and Let Die, the producers might have asked George Lazenby back, who played Bond for one outing between Connery and Moore in the far superior On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. The titular man with the golden gun in this one is a Bond-hunting assassin played by Christopher Lee, who was already legendary for his portrayal of cinematic evil (and would go on to become even more legendary playing villains in Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings). Unfortunate...

It’s the question on every 007 fan’s mind ever since Daniel Craig sipped his last Vesper and hung up the Walther PPK in 2021’s No Time To Die. There has been incessant speculation and Casino Royale -style transition is in the works for cinema's second-longest running series. (The Bond franchise has had 25 films over 61 years, but the reigning king of the longest running film franchise in history remains Godzilla, on screens since 1954 and with 38 films to date.) Enter Alper Yesiltas, a lawyer and photographer based in Istanbul, who has become quite the talent when it comes to AI-based photography. Having previously digitally depicted some iconic figures with series dealing with aging dead (“ As If Nothing Happened”) and living (“ Young Age(d)”) celebrities, Yesiltas has used a combination of Midjourney, Dall-E, Artbreeder and Faceapp – among other tools – to depict the James Bond candidates in action, in order to see who best fits the character. “My point is to create a convincing, believable photorealistic portrait,” Yesiltas tells Euronews Culture. Mission accomplished. His Bond portraits look incredibly photorealistic and perfectly frame his picks of potential candidates with stylish threads and the iconic cars of Bond. Aaron Taylor-Johnson as 007 Alper Yesiltas Aaron Taylor-Johnson as 007 “Taylor-Johnson has shown a considerable range in his roles, demonstrating an ability to balance action, drama, and humour. His digital depiction as Bond hints at a dynamic, intense, ...

Connery played the character on a total of seven occasions, including the first five Bond films. After he passed on appearing in film number six - On Her Majesty's Secret Service - he then returned in 1971's Diamonds are Forever, before reprising the role one last time for the non-official film Never Say Never Again. Interestingly the choice of Connery was initially not supported by Bond author Ian Fleming, who believed he didn't possess the elegance required for the role, and indeed Connery's portrayal of the character does differ somewhat from that in the books, playing up his promiscuity and adding a certain degree of cold-bloodedness. His portrayal of the character blended some of the aspects seen in both Connery's Bond and Moore's Bond - he was suave, witty and rather more light-hearted, with his tenure seeing a lot more jokes than Dalton's - but he also often displayed the old-fashioned grit and machismo that had been associated with the character over the years. However, after Casino Royale was released Craig won over most of his critics and although the quality of films has varied since he is now considered by many to be a top-tier Bond. Craig initially hinted that he was ready to step down after Spectre - but decided to return for one last film, making him the longest-serving Bond of all time. • For the latest news and expert tips on getting the best deals this year, take a look at our But both Sean Connery and Roger Moore actually played the character in more fil...
