The Tale of Sheikh Farid (Baba Farid)

There was a dedicated God loving soul by the name of Sheikh Farid in Islam religion. In his childhood he was very naughty. His mother asked him to do Namaaz (prayer to God). He said why should I do namaaz, what will I get? His mother said That God (Allah) will give you dates because Sheikh Farid used to eat dates with great interest. Sheikh Farid exclaimed,"is that True!" The mother replied 'yes'. Sheikh Farid said, tell me how to do it? The mother spread a sheet and asked him to sit with his eyes closed and say, "Allah please give me dates". Sheikh Farid as directed sat down and started saying "Allah give me dates, Allah give me dates". The mother said, until I say, don't open your eyes otherwise Allah will not give you the dates. On saying this the mother kept some dates wrapped in leaves under the sheet. When she finished her housework, she asked Sheikh Farid to open his eyes and look under the bed sheet. Supreme God Kabir Sahib

जीव हमारी जाति है, मानव धर्म हमारा। हिन्दु मुस्लिम सिक्ख ईसाई, धर्म नहीं कोई न्यारा।। Our Race is Living being, Mankind is our Religion | Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, there is no separate Religion || Since time immemorial, man is involved in the search of supreme peace, happiness and immortality. He has been trying according to his capability, but this desire of his is not being fulfilled. This is so because he does not have complete knowledge about the path which will fulfil his desire. All living beings want that there should be no need to work, they should get delicious food to eat, should get beautiful clothes to wear, there should be magnificent palaces to live in, beautiful parks to roam in, melodious music for entertainment, should dance-sing, play-jump, should enjoy without any restraint, and should never fall ill, should never grow old, and should never die etc-etc, but the world in which we are living, here neither is this visible anywhere, nor is possible. Because this world/lok is destructible and every thing of this lok is perishable and the king of this lok is Brahm-Kaal who eats one lakh immaterial (subtle/sukshm) bodies of human beings which are inside the material bodies of the human beings. He has captured all the living beings in the cage of the three loks by entangling them in the net of karm-bharm and sins-virtues. God Kabir says that — कबीर, तीन लोक पिंजरा भया, पाप पुण्य दो जाल। सभी जीव भोजन भये, एक खाने वाला काल।। गरीब, एक पापी एक पुन्यी आया, एक ह...

Life and Teachings of Kabir

ADVERTISEMENTS: Life: Kabir’s birth is shrouded in mystery. Very likely he was born in 1440 A.D. Legends speak of his widowed Brahmin mother, fearing ignominy and dishonor, forsook him near a tank at Benares. Ironically, the honey drops dripping from the branch of a tree nearby, sustained the infant. Early in the morning a weaver, Niru, and his wife Neema heard the weeping infant and gladly brought it to their own home. In this manner, the Brahmin child Kabir was brought up in the family of a Muslim weaver. Niru’s poverty prevented him from imparting education to Kabir. But since his early childhood Kabir snowed a remarkable inclination towards religion. ADVERTISEMENTS: He became inquisitive to know of the mysteries surrounding life and death and particularly about God. He concluded that there should be no differences among religions. Hence he met and discussed about religion with both Hindu and Muslim saints and as a result he was deeply attracted towards religion. In his youth Kabir was deeply influenced by Ramananda’s sermons and he became his disciple. Henceforth Kabir initiated philosophical discourses on the basic principles of Hinduism and Islam. Kabir was married and had two sons, but, though he led the life of an ordinary lay man he spent most of his time in religious discussions. Gradually many people were attracted towards Kabir’s saintly qualities and became his disciples. Kabir’s disciples were called ‘Kabirpanthins’. Both Hindus and Muslims became his discipl...
