ऐसा है इनका स्वरूप पुराणों के अनुसार देवी दुर्गा ने राक्षस रक्तबीज का वध करने के लिए कालरात्रि को अपने तेज से उत्पन्न किया था। इनकी उपासना से प्राणी सर्वथा भय मुक्त हो जाता है। इनके शरीर का रंग घने अन्धकार की तरह एकदम काला है और सिर के बाल बिखरे हुए हैं। गले में बिजली की तरह चमकने वाली माला है व इनके तीन नेत्र हैं जो ब्रह्माण्ड के समान गोल हैं। इनसे विद्युत के सामान चमकीली किरणें प्रवाहित होती रहती हैं। इनकी नासिका के श्वास से अग्नि की भयंकर ज्वलाएं निकलती रहती हैं एवं इनका वाहन गर्दभ है। इनके ऊपर उठे हुए दाहिने हाथ की वर मुद्रा से सभी को वर प्रदान करती हैं तथा दाहिनी तरफ का नीचे वाला हाथ अभय मुद्रा में है। बाईं तरफ के ऊपर वाले हाथ में लोहे का काँटा तथा नीचे वाले हाथ में खडग धारण किए हुए हैं। मां कालरात्रि का स्वरुप देखने में अत्यंत भयानक है, लेकिन ये सदैव शुभ फल ही देने वाली हैं। इसी कारण इनका एक नाम शुभंकरी भी है अतः इनसे भक्तों को किसी भी प्रकार भयभीत अथवा आतंकित होने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। सहस्त्रार चक्र में रहता है साधक का मन दुर्गा पूजा के दिन साधक का मन 'सहस्त्रार चक्र' में स्थित रहता है। उसके लिए ब्रह्माण्ड की समस्त सिद्धियों का द्वार खुलने लगता है। इस चक्र में स्थित साधक का मन पूरी तरह से माँ कालरात्रि के स्वरुप में स्थित रहता है। उनके साक्षात्कार से मिलने वाले पुण्य का वह भागी हो जाता है एवं उसके समस्त पापों-विघ्नों का नाश हो जाता है। मां कालरात्रि के स्वरुप विग्रह को अपने ह्रदय में स्थित करके मनुष्य को एकनिष्ठ भाव से उनकी उपासना करनी चाहिए एवं मन, वचन, काया की पवित्रता रखनी चाहिए। यह शुभंकरी देवी हैं इनकी उपासना से होने वाले शुभों की गणना नहीं की जा सकती। पूजा से ...
