It has now come to light that the video was recorded by the woman’s daughter and one of the assailants was her father. The victim was identified as Girija, while the assailants were her husband Anish and his friend Sujin. The couple lives in Kanyakumari with their three daughters. Anish became an alcohol addict during lockdown. He gradually began to invite his friend to his home and together they drank liquor in front of his family. If Girija protested, he reportedly hit her too. Last week, Anish brought a few friends to drink at his home and when Girija protested, her husband and his friend Sujin brutally assaulted her. Losing patience, Girija's elder daughter took her mother's phone and recorded her mother being hit and threatened to call the police and show them the evidence if Anish doesn't stop abusing her mother. The video went viral and Kanyakumari Police were informed. They recorded Girija’s complaint and filed a case against Anish and his friend Sujin under sections 849, 323,354 and 506 (1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
