By Latha Srinivasan: Karthi is said to have signed the sequel to his 2010 superhit film Paiyaa directed by Lingusamy. News reports stated that the Ponniyin Selvan star had agreed to do the project and that actress Tamannaah who played the actor's love interest in 2010 film, had also agreed to come on board. While fans of the pair were really excited about this news, sources told IndiaToday.in that this news was false and Karthi had not signed Paiyaa 2. So Karthi and Tamannaah will not be seen on screen together and fans need to wait longer. Karthi just had a superhit film with director Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2 and his next film, Japan, would release soon. KARTHI'S JAPAN Karthi'a Japan is up for a big release on Diwali 2023. Anu Emmanuel is playing the female lead in the film directed by Rajumurgan. Telugu actor Sunil will be seen playing a crucial role. Cinematographer-director Vijay Milton will make his acting debut in Japan. The Paiyaa After two back-to-back films with serious themes and heavy emotions, Karthi delivered a breezy romantic film with plenty of action and chartbuster songs (composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja). In the 2010 film, which was written and directed by N. Linguswamy, Karthi plays a dynamic youngster who accidentally gets an opportunity to take a road trip with a girl of his dreams, played by Tamannaah Bhatia. New Delhi, Oct 8 (PTI) Actor Karthi says he is looking forward to the Hindi version of his Tamil hit “Kaithi”, headlined by Bollywood star Ajay Devgn. Titled “Bholaa”, the remake of the 2019 blockbuster is Devgn’s fourth project as a director and also features Tabu in a pivotal role. Karthi, who played the lead in “Kaithi”, said the makers were approached by many filmmakers from across the country for the remake rights. “A lot of people called me and they wanted to buy the rights to ‘Kaithi’, but then Ajay sir was the first one to get it. I’m really glad that he is doing the Hindi remake and he is directing it as well,” the 45-year-old actor told PTI. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, “Kaithi” featured Karthi as Dilli, a recently released prisoner who finds himself in a dangerous situation where he has to rush poisoned cops to a hospital in exchange for meeting his daughter. Karthi, who currently stars in historical action drama “Ponniyin Selvan-I”, said he is confident that Devgn will do justice with the film’s story as well as the lead character.
