BHUBANESWAR: KIIT Jagannath Temple is gearing up for the annual sojourn of the sibling deities. As the nine-day Rath Yatra will start from June 20, preparation for the festival is in full swing. This year, KIIT is making new chariots for the sibling deities. “The temple trust has already started work on the chariot work from The temple, follows the rituals of Puri Jagannath temple, will organise the 17th Rath Yatra festival this year. “KIIT Jagannath is a complex of 12 temples. We have renovated it, made extensions also built a Mausima Temple, around 1km from the Jagannath temple, two years ago. Previously, there was a makeshift Mausima temple,” said Samanta. On the day of Rath Yatra, the chariots will reach Mausima Temple and stay there till Bahuda Yatra. People of the city, nearby villagers, KIIT and KISS students along with staff take part in the Rath Yatra. The temple has made gold ornaments for the deities and devotees can witness the ornaments on the day of Sunabesha on June 29. Jagannath culture expert Surya Narayan Rath Sharma guides the temple trust for the rituals and other matters related to the Jagannath temple and Rath Yatra. The temple has 17 priests. Regarding the building of Jagannath temple, Samanta said, “A person named Surendra Das from the city once came to me and talked about his dream related to installation of deities at KISS.
