Kishore Kumar: Birth, Family and Education Kishore Kumar was born as Abhas Kumar Ganguly on August 4, 1929, in Khandwa, Central Provinces, British India (present-day Madhya Pradesh, India) to Kunjalal Ganguly (father) and Gouri Devi (mother). His father was a lawyer while his mother was a homemaker. Kishore Kumar had three more siblings-- Ashok Kumar (Kumudlal Ganguly), Sati Devi and Anoop Kumar (Kalyan Kumar Ganguly). He did his graduation from Christian College, Indore. He was a Bengali Kanyakubja Brahmin. Kishore Kumar: Personal Life Kishore Kumar married four times in his entire lifetime. In the year 1950, he married Bengali singer and actress Ruma Guha Thakurta also known as Ruma Ghosh. The couple separated in the year 1958 and had a son Amit Kumar. Kishore Kumar fell in love with his co-actress Madhubala and was still married to Ruma. Kishore Kumar proposed Madhubala but the later went to London for the treatment of ventricular septal defect (hole in the heart).
