Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Movie: Review

KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN is the story of a man and his three brothers. Bhaijaan (Salman Khan) lives in Delhi in a neighbourhood where he’s much revered and respected. A corrupt wealthy man Mahavir (Vijender Singh) wants to usurp the neighbourhood for commercial gains. But he’s unable to ... do so due to Bhaijaan and his power. Bhaijaan meanwhile has three brothers, Moh (Jassie Gill), Ishq (Raghav Juyal) and Love (Siddharth Nigam). The quartet has vowed never to marry as they feel that their to-be partners will separate them. But Moh, Ishq and Love are secretly dating Muskaan (Palak Tiwari), Sukoon (Shehnaaz Gill) and Chahat (Vinali Bhatnagar) respectively. Nadeem chacha (Satish Kaushik) and his two friends (Tej Sapru, Aasif Sheikh) from the neighbourhood learn about their love affairs. They caution them that if Bhaijaan learns about it, he’ll be devastated. Hence, the brothers and their lovers decide to find a partner for Bhaijaan. As luck would have it, they come across Bhagylaxmi aka Bhagya (Pooja Hegde) and they conclude that she fits the bill. Fortunately, Bhagya also falls for Bhaijaan and gels well with the brothers, especially when the brothers tell Bhagya that Bhaijaan is a non-violent person, just like Bhagya’s elder brother Balakrishna (Venkatesh Daggubati). Bhaijaan, too, develops feelings for her and he goes ahead once he realizes that Bhagya won’t cause problems between them. Bhagya decides to head to Hyderabad with Bhaijaan to introduce him to his family. On...

Review: Salman Khan's 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan' Hurts More Than Its 'Hammer

At one point, when a character hears that humans are called ‘homo erectus’, he says of three men in the film, “How can they be homo? They have girlfriends.” By the time this “joke” makes it to Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, I had already checked out. Or in the film’s words, hum switch off ho gaye the. Women swoon over him in the streets but he has decided to stay unmarried, a sacrifice he made for his three brothers – Luv (Siddharth Nigam), Ishq (Raghav Juyal), and Moh (Jassie Gill). Now, everyone expects them to also stay unmarried. Bhaijaan is terrified by the imaginary possibility of a woman hurting their bond, but the brothers manage to find ‘safe’ women to marry – Muskaan (Palak Tiwari), Sukoon (Shehnaaz Gill), and Chahat (Vinali Bhatnagar). Everyone then sets out on a mission to get Bhaijaan married and to that effect, also find his old flame played by an eternally endearing Bhagyashree. One nostalgic Maine Pyaar Kiya montage later, they realise they’ve made the trip in vain. Something about Hegde’s act is charming in places but in others it’s tough to buy into. Sajid's ‘Tere Bina’ and Ravi Basrur's ‘Bathukamma’ are the best songs in the film and they’re truly on the opposite side of the spectrum. Something about listening to an auto tuned version of ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ did the same thing to my childhood as the Doraemon and Phineas and Ferb conspiracy theories. I would, however, in the spirit of honesty admit that the song i...

Salman Khan shares how he and Bhumika Chawla only exchanged pleasantries during Tere Naam shoot: ‘She thought I’ll run after her with long hair’

Premium Salman Khan shares how he and Bhumika Chawla only exchanged pleasantries during Tere Naam shoot: ‘She thought I’ll run after her with long hair’ During the trailer launch of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Bhumika Chawla shared how during the audio launch of Tere Naam, she had accidentally called Salman Khan 'bhai', leaving many people stunned. Superstar Salman Khan and actor Bhumika Chawla, who famously featured in the 2003 romantic drama Tere Naam and have reunited for upcoming film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, on Monday opened up about their experiences of filming together. During the trailer launch of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Bhumika shared how during the audio launch of Tere Naam, she had accidentally called Salman ‘bhai’— what the superstar is fondly called—leaving many people stunned. “At the audio launch of Tere Naam I went on stage and said, ‘I’m very happy to work with Salman bhai!’ and people were just so shocked, that what exactly is happening! But today I won’t call you Salman bhai,” Bhumika said. Replying to which, Salman quipped, “Aisa kya badal gaya?!” Watch | The superstar then proceeded to narrate how “great” a relationship the duo shared in Tere Naam. In the film, Salman Khan played Radhe Mohan, an entitled rowdy man who falls in love with a meek college junior Nirjara, played by Bhumika Chawla. To win her over, Radhe uses all the tricks in the toxic masculinity book: stalking, threatening, intimidating, before she falls in love with him too. See phot...

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Review: Bhai’s mighty punches are the only saving grace of this action drama

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan story: Bhaijaan (Salman Khan) is committed to living his life as a bachelor so that he can take care of his three younger bhais. But when a beautiful woman walks into his life things take an unexpected turn. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan review: This Bhai’s jaan are his brothers and they are his absolute priority. While they have already found their life partners, Bhaijaan is still flying solo. So, they desperately start looking out for a match for him. Walks in Bhagya Laxmi (Pooja Hegde), who not only fits the bill, but also shares her name with Bhaijaan's long gone ex-girlfriend. But here's the catch -- this match is far more complicated than it looks, as Bhagya’s Hyderabadi family has a mysterious and dark past. It’s a wafer-thin plot that tries to achieve a lot but doesn't really end up going places. Director and co-writer Farhad Samji’s story throws in a lot of bloody action with little semblance to logic and normalcy. The first half tests your patience with scenes that intend to be funny, but are not. The loud performances don't help much. The story simply doesn’t kickstart until the interval. The romantic tracks between the three brothers Luv (Siddharth Nigam), Ishq (Raghav Juyal) and Moh (Jassie Gill) and their love interests Chahat (Vinali Bhatnagar), Sukoon (Shehnaaz Gill) and Muskaan (Palak Tiwari) respectively, are banal and clichéd. The chemistry between Bhagya and Bhaijaan faces a few hiccups initially, but warms up along the way. Samji ...
