KOLKATA: The city police has made it easier to pay the penalty for traffic offences. One can now go to the city traffic police portal and pay the fine online through the payment gateway of a private bank, using debit card, credit card or online fund-transfer. City police chief The police commissioner suggested that the portal must have a system where one can also pay the courier charge online so that the person can get back the seized document, like licence or registration smart card, through courier after online payment. Now, after online payment, one has to physically collect the seized articles from the traffic guard or traffic police headquarters at From now on, one can access Chakrabarti also suggested to make the system interactive. "Now, the system is one-way. It imposes the penalty on the accused offender. The system does not allow one to argue with the traffic police that offence has not been made," Chakrabarti added.
