Bids called for Aqua Marine Park at Kothwalguda

HMDA has called for international competitive bids for setting up a tunnel aquarium or Aqua Marine Park inside the Eco Hill Park at Kothwalguda at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore. It will be set up under DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate & Transfer) in 4.27 acres with tunnel view of 180 degrees. As per the concept note shared by the HMDA Commissioner and Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar on social media, the aquarium will have multiple tunnels or a curved tunnel of at least 100 metre length and 3.5 metre wide walkway. It will have a wide variety of aqua marine species, including reptiles. A restaurant with clear view of exhibits/panel displays, dome theatre, 7D theatre, virtual aquarium, touch tanks, Koi feeding, and interactive kiosks for children are part of the project. The facility should accommodate at least 2,500 visitors at a time, in at least 2.5 lakh square feet area. Water volume should be at least 30 lakh litres for the overall aquarium, and 20 lakh litres for the tunnel tank. This is expected to be the largest in the country, the note said. Last date for submission of bids is June 21, up to 3 p.m. The project should be developed in a period of 30 months after awarding the contract. On display should be not less than 10,000 members from 300 species of fresh water, brackish water and marine species of fish, reptiles and amphibians. The metropolitan authority has sought developers to enrol their bids for the innovative project through the design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) framework. Construction will commence once the selection process is finalised and agreement is reached while the project is likely to be uptaken under a single phase. Exciting news! The theatre will have a seating capacity of 25 people while the restaurant with seating for 50 people will offer a clear view of the exhibits at the aquarium. The aquarium will offer a minimum capacity of accommodating around 2500 people while the water volume will not be less than 3 million litres for the overall aquarium and not less than 2 million litres for the tunnel tank. `Gazebos' to `cottages': TS govt to build Rs 75 crore Eco Park at Kothwalguda

Hyderabad: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) K T Rama Rao will lay the foundation stone for the Eco Park at Kothwalguda on Tuesday. Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, MAUD, had visited the site and had instructed for the development of the eco-park. Spread over 125 acres of land, the park is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs.75 crore. Of the total land, 85 acres adjacent to Nehru Outer Ring Road near Himayat Sagar lake belong to the HMDA. Nearly 40 acres of land near Outer Ring Road belong to the Tourism Department. The upcoming park will have a 2.5 km walking path with a width of 2.4 meters, a bird aviary spanning 6 acres, parking at the entrance, 2.5 km long pathways with a width of 6 m, and an approach road. Besides, it will have Gazebos and Pergolas (open garden structures), an open-air theatre, a butterfly garden, a sensory park, an aquarium, a pool, four food courts, camping tents, luxury wooden cottages, and a conference hall with temporary structures. A bridge connecting the land areas on both sides of the Outer Ring Road will also be set up.
