Welcome to Kuno National Park Located in the Sheopur District of Madhya Pradesh, Kuno national park is spread over an area of ​​about 748 square kilometres where wild animals including Indian leopards, Indian wolves, Sloth Bear, monkeys, and many more dwell gloriously. The home of various wild creatures got its sanctuary status in 1981. It was called the Palpur-Kuno wildlife sanctuary. BHOPAL: Aasha, the cheetah named by Prime Minister A team of expert wildlife officials tranqualished Aasha on Sunday afternoon when she was moving towards Uttar Pradesh, skilfully manoeuvring through dense forests and agricultural lands to avoid human settlements. The operation to sedate the cheetah was executed seamlessly, ensuring safety of both the animal and the team involved, said officers. Once tranquillized, Aasha was carefully reintroduced into her natural habitat, and officers said that she is in good health. These developments were conveyed to the steering committee overseeing the cheetah translocation project. "The move was very smooth. Veterinarians say Aasha looks good and is doing well since her return," said Dr. Laurie Marker, founder and executive director of Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF). Aasha had previously made her way to Madhav National Park in Shivpuri district, where she remained for a brief period. During the pursuit to locate Aasha, the Kuno team encountered a perilous incident in Burakheda village. Mistaken for cattle thieves, the team was attacked by villagers, leading to injuries to four forest department employees. This event unfolded around 4 am when the team was diligently monitoring Aasha's movements using a GPS tracker attached to her neck. Despite their efforts to explain their purpose, the villagers resorted to physical aggression. The assailants also vandalized the team's vehicles before the team managed to escape. By Ravish Pal Singh: Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Tuesday said that the cheetahs residing in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park will continue to be there for the time being. His remarks come in light of the He arrived in Kuno on June 6 to review Project Cheetah and said that at present, the cheetahs will not be shifted from Kuno to another place. "Only after getting a satisfactory result of the first phase of Project Cheetah in Kuno, an alternative arrangement will be started in another National Park," he said. Of the 17 remaining adult cheetahs, seven have already been released into the wild. The death of three adult cheetahs and three of the four cubs born to a female Namibian cheetah, Sisaya, has prompted questions from several experts on the suitability of the habitat and wildlife management.
