By NEW DELHI: In yet another bureaucratic reshuffle, Lieutenant Governor (L-G) VK Saxena on Saturday transferred five IAS officers as well as a DANICS officer while assigning additional charges to each of them. The officers have been given charge of departments such as publicity and advertisements as well as of the AAP think-tank, which are the key wings of the party. The ruling AAP and the L-G have been locked in a constant tussle since the latter took charge. According to the transfer/posting order issued by the services department of the Delhi government, R N Sharma, a 2010-batch (AGMUT cadre) IAS officer, who is currently serving as Commissioner (Labour) has been given the additional charge of director (Directorate of Information and Publicity)-cum-special secretary (Information and Publicity) and CEO (Shabdarth). Shabdarth is an agency that was established by the AAP government for its publicity and advertisement campaigns when it came to power in Delhi in 2015. This is wing functions along with DIP. So far Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, a 1997-batch IAS officer was Director (I&P) as well as CEO, Shabdarth. Besides, C R Garg, a 2008-batch (AGMUT) IAS officer, currently serving as secretary (information and publicity) has been posted as secretary (art, culture and languages). Lieutenant Governor issues in Delhi The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is likely to introduce legislation in the ongoing Parliament session to amend a 1991 Act pertaining to the powers and function of the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor. The Union Territory of Delhi with a Legislative Assembly came into being in 1991 under Article 239 AA of the Constitution inserted by ‘the Constitution (Sixty-ninth Amendment) Act, 1991’, It said that the UT of Delhi shall be called the National Capital Territory of Delhi. LG to adopt four Delhi villages for development

Lieutenant governor VK Saxena has decided to adopt four more villages in Delhi, and will develop them as model villages by improving their civic infrastructure and livelihood opportunities, LG secretariat officials aware of the matter said on Tuesday. Delhi LG VK Saxena had earlier adopted Qutabgarh village in northwest Delhi as a model village. (HT Photo) The four villages are Nizampur and Jaunti at Kanjhawala in northwest Delhi, and Rawta and Deorala in Kapashera in southwest Delhi. Saxena had earlier adopted Qutabgarh village in northwest Delhi as a model village. A senior LG secretariat official, declining to be named, said, “According to the 2011 census, the population of Nizampur and Jaunti is below 10,000, while the population of Rawta and Deoral is 2,933 and 524, respectively. On the model of Qutabgarh, all efforts are being made for improving the quality of life and economic well-being of people living in these four rural villages of the national capital.” Speaking about the facilities to be introduced in the four villages, the officer said Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) dispensaries at these villages will be upgraded to poly clinics, and post offices will be opened. “These villages will have proper streetlights and ponds as well. Various issues concerning these villages, including issues related to safe potable water, agriculture, and health will be addressed on a priority basis,” he said.
