Logitech Crayon for iPad Now Available With USB

Apple today started selling a Priced at $69.95 in the U.S., the Logitech Crayon is a lower-cost alternative to the Apple Pencil. The drawing tool features a slim aluminum body and an Apple Pencil-like tip, with the same latency, tilt, and palm rejection that you get with the Apple Pencil. Unlike the Apple Pencil, however, the Crayon lacks pressure sensitivity. The new Logitech Crayon is compatible with all iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad models with a USB-C port, including the new 10th-generation iPad. Don't laugh at the Logitech Crayon. It is a great product for what it does. It is universally compatible with any iPad that uses either generation of Pencil, and it is considerably less expensive than an Apple Pencil. It is limited in that it does not detect differences in pressure when using, so I would think it is not very useful for artists. But I am an Engineer, not an artist. I take notes with it, and mark up and annotate PDF plans within Notability with it. I have virtually worn one out after 3.5 years, and I will buy another soon. I have used it with with my iPad Mini 5 since early 2019, and will buy another one to use with an iPad Air that I plan to purchase soon.

Logitech Crayon vs. Apple Pencil Review: which stylus should you get?

Though it can be seen as a cheaper Apple Pencil alternative, it’s the lack of pressure sensitivity that costs it the $30 difference. Yes, you heard that right, this $70 stylus doesn’t have pressure sensitivity. It does, however, have tilt support, which lets you adjust line weight depending on the angle you’re drawing at. You might be tempted to go for “dumb” $10 styluses, but the Crayon’s palm rejection goes a long way toward how much you’ll like writing on your iPad. If you’re comparison shopping between styluses from other companies like Adonit or Wacom, and trying to whittle down your choices in the $70-90 range, it’s going to be a give and take between what features you value most. Apple’s first third-party stylus is a safe bet that performs as well as the Apple Pencil. It connects instantly without Bluetooth pairing, and draws smoothly without lag or jitter. Logitech Crayon (2023) review: good stylus gets even better

Our Verdict The 2023 model of the Logitech Crayon is a perfect example of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, mirroring most of the specs and design elements from the original Apple Pencil alternative in 2018 with two main exceptions; now, it charges with a USB-C cable and has a slicker, minimalist design. Compatible devices: iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and above), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and above), iPad Air (4th and 5th generation), iPad (10th generation), iPad mini (6th generation) Dimensions: 159 x 127 x 80mm (L x W x D) Weight: 20g Charge time: 50 minutes Battery life: 7.5 hours Connections: Wireless Batteries: Rechargeable lithium-ion For some time, the That’s right, Logitech decided to leave well enough alone after the success of its original Crayon, changing just a few features for its more updated sibling. Namely, the stylus has a welcome and slightly more modern, stripped-back design and a USB-C charging port as opposed to the original’s Lightning port, mirroring the charging progression we’ve seen in iPads themselves. Otherwise, it’s pretty much the same. As an elusively-acclaimed Apple-approved product, the Logitech Crayon shares a lot of specs with the Apple Pencil; minimal lag, palm rejection, compatibility with a broad spectrum of apps, and instant pairing with iPads. There’s still no pressure sensitivity, but as the Logitech Crayon is a more affordable model than Apple’s styluses, that’s not a huge surprise. The Logitech Crayon works exclusiv...

Logitech Crayon: Everything you need to know!

Can I use the Crayon with my iPad Pro? Sorry, but this little guy is specifically designed for the 2018 9.7-inch iPad. It uses a special type of connection technology that is not available on other Apple Pencil supported devices. It's not a difference in the iPad's screen or software. It's specific to Logitech's unique connection technology. Logitech explained to me that the Crayon, "interacts with the iPad 6, allows for multiple pens to work on same iPad (not simultaneously) and can go from one iPad to another without any delay but does not pair." There is a button at the end of the Crayon that you press for two seconds, which connects it directly to your iPad. Nothing else. No going into settings to make sure Bluetooth is on or having disconnect issues — just press a button and you're connected. Does it work across the iPad's entire operating system? It sure does. As far as the internals are concerned, Logitech Crayon works the same as Apple Pencil. You can swipe on the Home screen, use it in a variety of supported drawing apps, tap the keyboard with it, highlight text in iBooks, and pretty much anything else. It works very much like a standard stylus but has a few super cool extra features that are exclusive to the 2018 9.7-inch iPad. Does it write like Apple Pencil? Almost entirely, yes. It uses the same internals as Apple Pencil, which means low latency, palm rejection, and tilt support so you can make wider and thinner lines and add shading. But unlike Apple Pencil, ...
