Sri Lanka win their home Asia Cup, the rest of the SL players join Shanaka to celebrate with the trophy, the fireworks light up behind them again, the glitter goes up to the sky as well. See you soon for more cricket. On behalf of everyone who brought the action to you, this is Sreshth Shah saying thank you for joining us. Take care! 10.40pm Now onto the winners in this presentation. Chris Silverwood, the SL coach, is invited to collect special-edition gifts for the Sri Lanka squad. Winning captain Dasun Shanaka is then called up, and here he is for a chat: "I must thank the crowd, they were supporting us massively. And also to the fans at home, hope we made them proud. (Toss result) If I go back to IPL 2021, it was Chennai who won the final after batting first. These youngsters know conditions and situation really well. After losing five wickets, Hasaranga-Rajapaksa made a difference. Up front, Chamika and DDS batted really well too. (Chat at halfway stage) The last-ball six in the 20th over was the turnaround point. 170 is always a tricky total. (What did you tell bowlers?) It was all about nerves. I knew the youngster can always deliver. He can go wrong at the start but we have given him the trust and belief. (Loss in the first game, today the winners... what was the discussion that day?) I...

Brilliant Sri Lanka clinch Asia Cup 2022 title

The perfect start for Pakistan Winning the toss, Pakistan came out all guns blazing in the final in Dubai. Naseem Shah got the ball rolling by bowling a beauty to dismiss Kusal Mendis for a duck. Pathum Nissanka also could not carry on his brilliant run, with Haris Rauf getting the better of him on 8. Rauf would then bowl a sizzler to send Danushka Gunathilaka packing for 1. If Sri Lanka believed they would get a reprieve, the spinners would then chip in with a couple of wickets for Pakistan. Iftikhar Ahmed got the wicket of Dhananjaya de Silva for 28, who up to that point was looking in good nick. Skipper Dasun Shanaka also couldn't contribute much, with Shadab Khan bowling him for 2. At the halfway mark, Pakistan were well and truly on top. A magnificent performance from Haris Rauf 🙌 Rajapaksa, Hasaranga mount Sri Lanka's fightback Sri Lanka would then launch a brilliant counter of their own, with Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga leading the charge. The pair put on a partnership of 58 runs, playing some incredible shots against a high-quality bowling attack. Their stand would come off only 36 deliveries, getting Sri Lanka well and truly back in the game. Hasaranga would be dismissed by Rauf, who had his third scalp for 36, but it was a job done well. Rajapaksa would then unleash carnage, bringing up his half-century while upping the ante. Chamika Karunaratne gave him brilliant support from the other end, rotating the strike as the pair put up a stand of 54*. Rajap...

Shakib has been very picky and choosy when it comes to playing international cricket for his side. He pulled out from the South Africa ODI series followed by the ODI and T20I series against West Indies. Asia Cup final 2022: who are the finalists and who will win this t20i showdown?

There was a problem. Please refresh the page and try again. By submitting your information you agree to the The Asia Cup final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka takes place tomorrow: Sunday September 11. And we have done thoughts on this low key momentous t20i event. Who is favourite to win the Asia Cup 2022? Judging by almost every other game in the tournament to date, it’ll probably be whichever of these teams bats second! Aside from the group stage games involving qualifiers Hong Kong, only one game in the whole tournament has been won by the team batting first. And that was a dead rubber game that took place yesterday, with India marmalising Afghanistan in Dubai. Unusually, there has been a kind of ‘dress rehearsal’ for the Asia Cup final, because Pakistan vs Sri Lanka was also the final game of the Super 4 round. It took place on Friday September 9 and Sri Lanka won quite easily. Pakistan will no doubt respond that they weren’t even trying, not bothered, mate. It definitely looked like they were trying, to me. Trying and largely failing. T20 being what it is, we shouldn’t read too much into this result though.
