Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, Mathura

At a distance of 4 km from Mathura Junction Railway Station, Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi is the most famous temple located in the crowded city of Sri Krishna Janma Bhoomi also known as Katra Keshav Dev temple, is the actual birthplace of Lord Krishna. A bigger temple was constructed to replace the old temple during the reign of Emperor Chandragupta Vikramaditya (4th century CE). This temple used to one of the grandest temples in India until it was destroyed by Ghazni Mahmud in 11th century. In 1150 AD, Jajja during the rule of Vijay Pal Deva rebuilt the temple but the temple was destructed by other Muslim ruler Sikandar Lodi in 16th century. The fourth temple was built during the rule of Mughal emperor Jahangir by Veer Singh Bundela of Orchaa. But it was again destroyed by Aurangzeb in 1669 AD and a mosque named Jami Masjid was built in the place of the temple. During British rule Madan Mohan Malviya took the land from Raja Krishna das of Banaras. Later on, inspired by him few leading personalities like Jugal Kishore Birla, Jaidayal Dalmia and many others formed a private trust to overtake the construction work on the site and finally the temple was completed in 1965. It is only natural then, that Shri Krishna Janmabhumi (birthplace), located in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, is regarded as one of the holiest destinations in India. According to Mahabharata and Bhagavata Purana, two Hindu mythological texts, Shri Krishna was born around 3228 BC. Mathura itself, is associated with an interesting history. It is believed that this city was founded in the Treta Yug by Shatrughan, who was the younger brother of Lord Ram. It was later ruled by King Kansa, an evil king who met his end at Krishna’s hands. Today, there are a series of temples around the spot where Lord Krishna was born. Collectively, they are known as the “Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple Complex”. The religious structures which form a part of this complex are Shri Krishna Janma Bhoomi, Keshavdeva Temple, Garbha Griha, Bhagwati Bhawan and Potra Kund. In Mathura, we took a guide for visiting Shree Krishna Janma Sthal and Dwarkadhish Temple who asked for Rs.100 which sounded a bit fair. Our visit to the Janma Sthal of Lord Krishna was quite good but the guide didn’t inform us about the lift available at the temple for old people and those who have a trouble walking, my mom had her ankle surgery a few months earlier so she needed it, though it was good that my dad saw the lift and we were able to take her to the temple. When we enquired the guide about it he just made excuses that he was aware of the lift but there have been certain issues in the past so it would be better not to tell us about it. You need to collect alll your mobiles in cloak room for 10 rs per bag.. and 2 rs per mobile...we cant eben carry sanitizer inside..the security check is worst even for small things they send back and avept you to stand in que again...at 12 pm temple is closed..very poorly maintained..people come to you and say ee will take you via special entry just pay us money..not required quietly stand in que in early mrng..not recommend to go after 11pm..heavily crowded no proper clean food shop available Mathura - Vrindavan diary! So I had a day tour to Mathura, Vrindavan and visited #Krishna janamsthan temple and bankey bikari temple respectively. I felt so so happy when the world was chanting jai krishna, jai vasudeva there... I had this feeling - humare toh naam mein hi vasudeva hai.. Basically another destination done.. Mathura Krishna Janmabhoomi case: Allahabad HC lifts stay; arguments to be made afresh

NEW DELHI: In a major development that paves the way for resumption of hearing in the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi dispute case, the Allahabad high court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by the UP Sunni Waqf Board and Shahi Idgah Trust, challenging the May 2022 order of a district judge of Mathura that upheld the maintainability of a suit filed by the petitioner deity. The Muslim side had moved the HC challenging the order by the district judge following which it was stayed. Dismissing the plea, Justice Prakash Padia asked the District Judge of Mathura to pass an order after hearing arguments afresh against the decision of the Civil Judge. All the parties will have to present their arguments afresh before the District Judge of Mathura. Case file • The Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi dispute in Mathura pertains to the ownership of 13.37 acres of land. • A civil court, in a ruling in 1973, allocated land to each party (Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan and Shahi Masjid Idgah Trust) on the basis of agreement reached between the mosque trust and temple management. • In 2016, a fresh petition was moved on behalf of the deity, challenging the 1973 order. • In 2020, the Hindu side’s petition was rejected by a civil judge in Mathura and was held to be “not maintainable”. • But in May last year, a district judge ruled over the civil judge order and said the case could be taken up for hearing.
