MG Comet review, first drive

By Rahul Ghosh: Cities are getting congested and cars are getting bigger and bigger. In a scenario like this MG Motors claim that 70 percent of Indians drive alone most of the time. So a micro-car it seems, is the need of the hour. Enter the MG Comet. MG Comet: design and dimensions The MG Comet is 2,974mm in length and just 1,505mm wide. This makes it one of the smallest cars in the country. However sporting a height of 1,640mm, the Comet is definitely a tall car. Speaking of design, the Comet again is a unique proposition. A minuscule bonnet sits up front and large LED headlamps dominate the front end. The charging pod sits in front and the MG logo residing on it is backlit. In profile, one can see that the wheels are pushed far into the corners and this allows the Comet to sport a wheelbase of 2,010mm which is quite substantial. The Comet is a two-door hatch and this means access to the rear seats is via the single door. So is getting in easy? We shall get to that shortly. The Comet rides on small 12in steel wheels and alloys are not even on the options list. At the back, the LED tail lights are joined together by a panel and this gives the Comet a rather interesting look. Much like the sides, the rear end is also quite slab-sided. Overall the Comet looks like nothing we have seen on Indian roads. Inside, the Comet feels rather premium. Getting in is easy thanks to the large door and once on the driver’s perch, things get even more exciting! The dash looks tiny and load...
