VISAKHAPATNAM: Counting of votes for Graduates and Teachers MLC constituency is under way across Andhra Pradesh. The results of three graduates MLC constituencies and two teachers MLC constituencies would likely come out after Friday afternoon. The process of counting was started at 8 am on Thursday for Kurnool-Anantapur-Kadapa Teachers and Graduates MLC constituencies and Chittoor-Nellore-Prakasam Graduates and Teachers MLC constituencies, besides North Andhra districts Graduates MLC constituency. Ballot papers were bundled in packs during the counting of votes in all counting centers. This process had taken almost seven to eight hours. Strong rooms were opened in the presence of returning officers. Counting agents of candidates were allowed inside the premises after completion of frisking at the entrance of the counting centres. The counting started in the evening and there are six to seven rounds. North Coastal Andhra Pradesh Graduates MLC election has 767 postal ballot votes of which, 582 votes were polled. But officials declared 228 votes invalid. A total of 37 candidates in the contest of North Andhra graduates MLC elections. The counting started at 7.30 pm on Thursday on 28 tables for six rounds. Although YSRCP has an absolute majority in the local bodies, a few independent candidates with the support of principal opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) made a vain bid to win the elections. YSRCP candidate Narthu Ramarao won the Srikakulam seat with a thumping majority. Ramarao got 632 votes, while the independent candidate A Ramakrishna got 108 votes. This constituency has 752 votes in which 12 votes were found invalid during the counting. Similarly, YSRCP candidates K Srinivas and Vanka Ravindranath snatched both the seats from West Godavari local bodies constituency. As many as 1,088 electors of the total 1,105 exercised their franchise. YSRCP candidate Kavuru Srinivas got 481 first priority votes, Vanka Ravindranath got 460 first priority votes. Independent candidate Veeravalli Chandrasekhar got 120 votes leaving him behind the ruling party candidates.
