Mohammad Irfan Jr decides quits Pakistan cricket to settle in Sydney

Mohammad Irfan Junior has bid farewell to cricket after getting disheartened following selection criteria of the upcoming National T20 Cup. Sources privy to the matter have revealed that the 25-year-old right-arm fast bowler has formally informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about his decision. Mohammad Irfan Jr said he deserved a place in the first XI on the basis of his performance but he was selected in the second XI as selectors picked their favorite players. It has been learnt that Mohammad Irfan Jr had requested Abdul Rehman – the Southern Punjab coach – for a place in the first XI but he did not accept it. The bowler said he will not play any form cricket from now onwards but will consider playing if got a chance in the Pakistan Super League. I will not beg the PCB for help and will earn my livelihood by farming and a sports shop, Mohammad Irfan Jr said. Last edited by MenInG; 19th September 2020 at 18:18. Upcoming players really need to leave this self entitlement attitude which they have learnt from some seniors. When you are a professional in any field these kind of things do happen, no point is being so disappointed that you decide to leave things rather better and positive attitude would be to improve your skills and show your capabilities in the opportunities you are given. He was one of the very few bowlers in Pakistan to get opportunities in PSL in two-three teams, if I am not wrong he played for Pak A as well. He still has the opportunity to play for se...

"Best Batter In The World": Net Bowler Muhammad Irfan Jr On Virat Kohli

Having claimed a sensational victory over Pakistan, Team India is now gearing up for the upcoming clash against the Netherlands in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. The team hit the ground running with their first practice session at Sydney Cricket Ground (SGC) on Tuesday. Net bowler Muhammad Irfan Jr. who hails from Pakistan bowled to Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant in the nets. Irfan said that he enjoyed bowling to the star batters of India like Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik and called the batters 'World Class' players. "I bowled to Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. Because of the pitch, I got bounce and that is why I enjoyed bowling against these three batsmen. Nets pitches and practice pitches are different because of the bounce the batters were having difficulties. All three of them are World Class players and bowling to them was fun," Muhammad Irfan told ANI. "I am here in Sydney since 2019. I play for the Western suburbs district. Through New South Wales I got an opportunity and I have come to give every team practice before that is why I come to every session for practice," he said. 'Chasemaster' Virat Kohli slammed an unbeaten 83 as India pulled off a miracle four-wicket victory over Pakistan in a final over thriller at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Melbourne last Sunday. Mohammad Irfan Jr impresses Rohit, Kohli at nets in Sydney

Lanky Pakistan pacer Mohammad Irfan Jr, who has been in Australia for the last couple of years, impressed Indian batters at nets in Sydney as Rohit Sharma and Co. prepare for their T20 World Cup 2022 match against the Netherlands on October 27 at the SCG. Irfan, 27, left Pakistan cricket in 2020 after he was excluded from Southern Punjab's first XI squad in the National Twenty20 Cup. The 6 foot 6-inch fast-bowler bowled his natural length just at the back of good length and thanks to his height, he got the ball to bounce as well during the net sessions. Wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik was troubled by the bounce but he earned praise from skipper Rohit and the team's numero uno batter Kohli. He got Kohli to edge one and also beat his bat with deliveries that bounced away. "My natural length is a bit back from a good length. So because of my height, I trouble all kinds of batters. When Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli praise you, what more do you need? Rohit bhai said, best of luck for your future," Irfan said to Press Trust of India. "I dismissed Steve Smith twice at the nets and he was not in good form. Since he was unable to middle my bowling, he asked me not to bowl further as he wanted to get his rhythm back," added Irfan. Irfan is now playing Grade Cricket for New South Wales' Western Suburb District and is waiting for his PR (Permanent Residency), which might ease his way into Australian first-class cricket. Irfan aims to bring his family to Australia once his earnings increase.

Mohammad Irfan Jnr Profile

Pakistan's pace stocks are enviable and Mohammad Irfan Jr is another of the fine prodigies to come from the fast bowling factory. Blessed with a tall frame, he also has the pace to rattle the batsmen. The extra bounce has meant that a slightly fuller length (read three-quarter length) has often had the batsmen in a tangle. Like most effective modern day bowlers. Irfan Jr has a good repertoire of variations which he uses to full effect in white-ball cricket. Irfan Jr made his First-class debut in 2014 and a List A initiation followed later in the same season. He impressed everyone instantly with his wicket-taking ability. However, the competition among fast bowlers in Pakistan is huge considering the abundant candidates on view in the domestic circuit. Those who saw him bowl were convinced that Irfan Jr had it in him to become a special player but his career required a push that would take him to the next level. Quality exposure is of immense importance for a player to climb up the ranks and Irfan Jr got that opportunity when he got picked by Lahore in the 2017 PSL season. Pitted against tougher opposition batsmen and blessed with world class players as teammates, Irfan Jr progressed wonderfully as a bowler. His skill set had been replenished a great deal and as per the latest records, he seems to be hitting them well as well. Not an accomplished batsman by any means but Irfan Jr certainly has the power to crack a few lusty blows. This coupled with his bowling makes him a v...
