The new airport, which will be called Manohar International Airport in honour of the late Manohar Parrikar, intends to improve air connectivity in Goa by facilitating the movement of civilian traffic into the state. The Mopa airport was constructed with sustainable infrastructure in mind and includes, among other things, a solar power plant, green buildings, LED lights on the runway, rainwater collection, and a cutting-edge sewage treatment facility with recycling capabilities. PM Modi laid the airport's foundation stone in November 2016. It has incorporated some of the top technology, including 5G compatible IT infrastructure, StabilRoad, Robomatic Hollow precast walls, and 3-D Monolithic Precast buildings.
