मायोसाइटिस एक ऑटो-इम्यून बीमारी है, इस दुर्लभ बीमारी जिसमें शरीर की प्रतिरक्षा प्रणाली ही मासपेशियों की स्वस्थ कोशिकाओं पर हमला करना शुरू कर देती है। मायोसाइटिस मांसपेशियों की लगातार सूजन का कारण बनती है तथा इन्हें ठीक नही होने देती, अधिक्तर मामलों में इस बीमारी के कारणों का पता नही लग पाता सामान्यतः गठिया, संक्रमण, चोट, या किसी दवा के साइड इफेक्ट को इसकी वजह माना जाता है। इस बीमारी के लक्षणों में मांसपेशियों में सूजन, त्वचा पर लाल चकते, चेहरे-छाती-गर्दन इत्यादि पर दानें, वजन घटना, या मासपेशियों में दर्द शामिल है। इसके इलाज के लिए कोई विशिष्ट दवाएं नहीं हैं, लेकिन बीमारी की गंभीरता को देखकर डॉक्टर अलग-अलग दवाइयों द्वारा इलाज कर सकते हैं।
