We stopped into the ashram to check out their new space which opened this past year. It is a beautiul space for music and Hindu spiritual practices. The older building has been maintained as a meditation room. The food, when served, is simply prepared and delicious, the chai is sublime. Add to that their farm and wandering peacocks and you have a space of serenity and warmth regardless of your faith or non-faith. This is the only Temple in America dedicated to the great Indian Saint, Neem Karoli Baba, of the last century. It was started in the late '70s by Ram Dass of "Be Here Now fame, His most famous Western devotee. The large flying white marble Hanuman is spectacular & comes from Jaipur, India. It was the first Hanuman Temple in the USA. There are many holiday celebrations & weekly OCCASIONS every Sunday. Set on a beautiful 10 acres with farm & gardens & peacocks and only a 10 minute walk from the historic Taos Town Plaza. Hanuman temple and the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram is the Hindu religious site in Taos, New Mexico. The place is divinely peaceful!
