Man held for supplying weapons to Neeraj Bawana gang in Delhi

New Delhi, May 27 (IANS) The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly supplying illegal weapons to the members of the infamous Neeraj Bawana gang in the national capital, the police said on Saturday. The accused, who has been identified as Navneet Hooda, is a relative of Naveen Bali, an active member of the Neeraj Bawana gang. The police said that Navneet also used to lure people for buying firearms by posting his videos brandishing weapons on Instagram. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Alok Kumar, said that there was inputs about the involvement of Hooda in supplying firearms to the members of the Neeraj Bawana gang in Delhi. "The information was further developed through technical and manual surveillance, and after efforts for more than a month, Hooda was nabbed from Sector 9 in Rohini on Thursday," the officer said. On interrogation, Hooda disclosed that he was associated with the Neeraj Bawana gang for the last five years through Naveen Bali, a sharpshooter in the gang. "Hooda also revealed that he provided weapons and other logistic support to Naveen Bali and other members of the syndicate. He claimed to have supplied more than 20 pistols to the gang members," said Kumar. "He has also disclosed that he would procure pistols from a person in Ghaziabad in. New Delhi: After Punjabi singer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead, a Delhi-based criminal Neeraj Bawana, who is now incarcerated in the national capital's high-security Tihar Jail, pledged to revenge the singer's death in a social media post. Previously, on social media, Goldy Brar, a Canadian gangster associated to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder. According to a Facebook post yesterday by an account named Bawana, "Sidhu Moose Wala was heart, brother. Will give a result in two days." The Neeraj Bawana gang had already denounced the gruesome assassination of Sidhu Moose Wala and pledged retaliation. The post names Neeraj Bawana, who is being held in Tihar Jail on murder and ransom charges, as well as his associates Tillu Tajpuriya and thug Davinder Bambiha. Delhi Police have arrested jailed Delhi gangster Neeraj Bawana’s father Prem Singh in connection with an Arms Act case, police said on Friday. Around two weeks ago, police had recovered two vehicles along with arms and ammunition from Bawana village, in the premises of a property owned by Prem Singh. Police said their investigation revealed that one of the recovered vehicles -- Mahindra Scorpio, whose body was modified to make it bullet proof -- was registered in the name of the gangster’s father. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India launched raids at several locations throughout the country on Tuesday, February 21, in an attempt to rein in active gangster syndicates. As per media reports, more than 70 sites across several cities were raided by NIA officials. Among the raided places were also the premises of close aides of gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Neeraj Bawana. Lawrence Bishnoi is the same name who has been accused of killing Punjabi singer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala. Kulwinder, a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, was also target in NIA raids. He is accused of sheltering gangsters of the Lawrence gang. The gang has also strong links with international drug syndicates. Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh were among the states where NIA was conducting search operations. The current raids are related to an investigation into a case that the NIA filed against gangsters and their criminal organisations. The police have arrested two people in the case so far. The Khalistani terrorist planned an attack on the Lawrence Bishnoi-Kala Jathedi gang with help from Bawana, who continues to operate his criminal activities from jail. Sunny Dagar, a gangster currently lodged in Punjab’s Patiala jail and a member of Bawana’s gang, made the call to the businessman and demanded Rs 5 crore. Dagar was arrested from Patiala Jail while the other accused was arrested from Delhi. "We arrested Neeraj Bawana early today (Tuesday) morning from Delhi," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav told IANS.
