Its assets include 10.25 tonnes of gold deposits in banks, 2.5 tonnes of gold jewellery, about Rs 16,000 crore of deposits in banks, and 960 properties across India. The Devasthanams’ net worth is more than the market capitalisation of several major Indian firms, including information technology company Wipro and cement major UltraTech, PTI reported. At the close of trading on Friday, Wipro had a market capitalisation of Rs 2.14 lakh crore, while the figure for UltraTech Cement was 1.99 lakh crore. The temple conglomerate’s net worth is also more than several state-owned firms such as the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and NTPC Limited. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy said that in the past three years, bank fixed deposit investments of the conglomerate have increased by Rs 2,900 crore. “Investments in the form of fixed deposits at various nationalised banks in 2019 were Rs 13,025 crore,” he said, according to The Times of India. “Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, [the] trust’s investments in bank FDs have gone up to Rs 15,938 crore as on September this year.” Reddy said that during the pandemic, some “vested interests” had questioned whether the organisation could pay employees’ salaries without withdrawing money from its fixed deposits. “But today, we have managed to add Rs 2,900 crore to our fixed deposits after comfortably paying off salaries and after meeting all our expenditures, which goes on to showcase the strong...

TTD net worth: Tirupati temple has assets worth over Rs 2.5 lakh crore

The rough value of assets owned by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams across the country could be over Rs 2.5 lakh crore, sources in the governing body told the news agency. This comprises land parcels, buildings, cash and gold deposits in the banks, given as offerings to the temple by devotees. However, the aforementioned value does not include priceless antique jewellery and properties including cottages and guest houses on the seven hills. In its about Rs 3,100 crore annual budget for 2022-23 presented in February, the TTD has projected over Rs 668 crore as income in the form of interests from cash deposits in banks. Also, Rs 1,000 crore income was predicted in the form of cash offerings alone --by about 2.5 crore devotees-- in the hundi of the hill temple. The TTD is getting a good sum as income on the 10.25 tonnes of gold deposited recently with the SBI and Indian Overseas Bank. The SBI alone has about 9.8 tonnes of gold deposits. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has over 900 immovable properties measuring well over 7,000 acres across the country and it administers a large number of temples in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Odisha, Haryana, Maharashtra and New Delhi, the report stated.
