Error by railway staff caused 55 percent of the train accidents between 2017-18 and 2021-22, shows data from the Commission of Railway Safety. Moreover, 75 percent of the accidents between 2017-18 and 2022-23 were attributed to derailment. News18 analysed data from the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) and Ministry of Railways, which also shows that in 2021-22, about 43 percent of the train accidents were due to “error in working by railway staff”. Including road users, passengers and miscreants, about 55 percent of the accidents were due to human error in 2021-22. In 2020-21, this was about 73 percent. Between 2017-18 and 2021-22, the share of train accidents attributable to error in the working of railway staff varied from 43 percent to 65 percent – with the highest in 2019-20 and lowest in 2021-22. Further, the five-year average stood at about 55 percent, data shows. The share of train accidents due to human error in total mishaps varied from 55 percent (in 2021-22) and 89 percent (in 2018-19). The average for five years shows that about 75 percent of the train accidents were due to human error. A U.S. judge late on Tuesday granted the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) request to temporarily block Microsoft Corp’s acquisition of video game maker Activision Blizzard and set a hearing next week. U.S. District Judge Edward Davila scheduled a two-day evidentiary hearing on the FTC’s request for a preliminary injunction for June 22-23 in San Francisco. Without a court order, Microsoft could have closed on the $69 billion deal as early as Friday. The FTC, which enforces antitrust law, asked an administrative judge to block the transaction in early December. An evidential hearing in the administrative proceeding is set to begin Aug. 2. Based on the late-June hearing, the federal court will decide whether a preliminary injunction – which would last during the administrative review of the case – is necessary. The FTC sought the temporary block on Monday. Davila said the temporary restraining order issued on Tuesday ”is necessary to maintain the status quo while the complaint is pending (and) preserve this court’s ability to order effective relief in the event it determines a preliminary injunction is warranted and preserve the FTC’s ability to obtain an effective permanent remedy in the event that it prevails in its pending administrative proceeding.” Microsoft and Activision must submit legal arguments opposing a preliminary injunction by June 16; the FTC must reply on June 20. Directed by Deepak Madhuvanahalli, the film, according to reports, is finally ready to hit theatres. Deepak revealed this in an interview with News18 Kannada Digital. The director said that Raju James Bond is ready for release and his team has planned to premiere the film in August. The team has also started promotion for the same by releasing a lyrical song titled Bekitta Bekitta on Thursday. A2 Music has unveiled the song on its official YouTube channel. Anthony Dassan has provided vocals to this number composed by J Anoop Seelin. Deepak Madhuvanahalli has penned the lyrics of this song.
