Nikamma by Sabbir Khan is so terrible that it isn’t humorous. No, not even accidentally. The action-comedy is reduced to two and a half hours of unadulterated twaddle by a shoddy script, shoddy acting, and a storytelling approach that borders on the mind-numbingly stupid. By Anindita Mukherjee: It is not every day that we watch a film that lives up to its name. For instance, there was not a single iota of hero giri in Heropanti 2. But Nikamma? Guess the makers knew from the very start what the verdict would be and hence, the name. The film stars Shilpa Shetty and Abhimanyu Dassani in the lead. Shirley Setia is a part of the cast too, but you’ll hardly notice her. The film is directed by Sabbir Khan. In short, Nikamma would make you wait for the interval so that you can pop one sar dard ki goli and another right after! The first 20 minutes of the film stresses how nikamma Abhimanyu (who plays Adi) is. Waise itni mehnat ki zaroorat nahi thi. You could have just waited for the film to finish. Sadly, we wish we could say tracing Adi’s boring life was the saddest part of the film. But the show begins just then, heading towards a steeper, downward alley. Adi is a fully grown man who depends on his brother (Samir Soni) and his uncle-auntie for money. In return, they spoil him to the core. However, his life changes when Samir marries Shilpa Shetty (Avni). We wish Bollywood’s typical hit formula of bhabhi-devar ka pavitra pyaar worked in this one too. To be honest, it did. A bit.
