Mirrorless Z 30

Aicha Robertson “The Nikon Z 30 is a great introductory camera to the world of photography and vlogging. As someone who loves to shoot on the go, the Z 30 delivers the smoothest image transfer to your phone. It's literally a few clicks in the SnapBridge app, and you have the videos and photos on your phone ready to edit.” Ally Sheehan “As someone who creates horizontal content for YouTube, vertical video for TikTok and photos for Instagram, having a camera like the Nikon Z 30 that does it all in one is a life saver. The red recording light and ability to record for over half an hour at a time has completely transformed my filming game. Also obsessed with the easy grip handle for shooting on the go!” This camera’s built-in Wi-Fi®capability can only be used with a compatible iPhone®, iPad®, and/or iPod touch®or smart devices running on the Android™operating system. Canon EOS R100 vs Nikon Z30

The They also share a similar limitation – for now, at least. Both Canon and Nikon have put most of their efforts into their full-frame camera ranges, and don’t yet make very many lenses for this smaller APS-C format. This will hopefully change in the future, but for now these entry-level mirrorless cameras do share this limitation. The digital camera market has changed. The The Nikon Z30 has the same size sensor as the EOS R100 (fractionally larger in fact) but a slightly lower 20-megapixel resolution. (Image credit: Nikon) • Canon EOS R100: 24.1MP APS-C • Nikon Z30: 20.9MP APS-C Both cameras have APS-C sensors, but different resolution figures. The EOS R100 has a 24-megapixel sensor which seems to have become a kind of standard baseline resolution for beginner/general-purpose cameras, while Nikon took the decision a while back to downsize its 24MP sensors to a newer 20MP unit with a better balance of speed and high-ISO performance – there’s evidence for this in the sections below. The Nikon’s lower resolution might bother some people on principle, but in practice there’s little difference in the detail captured. 2. Lens mount At the time of its launch, the choice of 'native' lenses for Canon's APS-C mirrorless cameras is very limited. (Image credit: Canon) • Canon EOS R100: Canon RF-S • Nikon Z30: Nikon Z DX Canon and Nikon have taken the same line with their APS-C mirrorless cameras, using the same lens mount as for their full frame models to ensure seamless compatibili...

Nikon Z30 review

While Nikon has aimed the Z30 firmly at a vlogger audience, with a focus on ease of use for shooting video, the underlying video specs are very similar to Nikon’s existing DX-format Z-series cameras. Likewise, it remains a very capable stills camera. If you’re of the generation of shooters happy to forego a viewfinder, the Z30 offers the cheapest route to Nikon’s astounding Z-mount optics. Nikon’s third mirrorless Z-series camera with a DX (APS-C) sensor has arrived in the guise of the Z30. It joins the original Nikon Z50 – launched over two years ago – and the more recent Nikon Z fc , which is essentially the same camera with retro-themed, direct-access controls. The Z30 feels very much like the same camera again – this time sans-viewfinder to appeal to vloggers, and perhaps a generation of photographers brought up on smartphones. • • • • • This plucky little Z camera's target audience and price range places it squarely alongside the • Nikon Z 30 at Amazon for $606.95 The Z30 is also Nikon’s cheapest Z-series mirrorless to date, largely made possible due to hardware hand-me-downs and an absent viewfinder. Electronic viewfinders are complex and expensive components. They typically squeeze many more pixels than a rear LCD into a very high-resolution screen that’s the size of a thumbnail, with precision optics to make for a comfortable viewing experience. But vloggers don’t needany of that: they turn the camera onthemselves as they express their viewsofthe world around them....

Our Verdict The Nikon Z30 is aimed at content creators who want a decent-quality camera at a reasonable price point.
