NMACC: 10 exciting events to catch at Mumbai’s newest cultural centre

The NMACC contains three performing arts spaces to host a series of theatricals, music and dance events, spoken word festivals and more. Of these, the 2000-seater Grand Theatre is the largest, hosting the biggest performances, while the 250-seater Studio Theatre and 125-seater Cube will hold the more intimate (and often, regional) productions. The latter offers an eclectic mix of the country’s emerging talent. India in Fashion is a first-of-a-kind exhibition curated by Hamish Bowles, global editor-at-large for Vogue and editor-in-chief of The World of Interiors. It examines the impact that traditional Indian dress, textiles and craft have had on the international fashion market since the 18th century. From the varied draperies of the botehs of Kashmir’s shawls, Indian traditions have made their way to royal courts and European haute couture. It also traces the evolution of the contemporary Indian fashion community. Powerhouse actors Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah and Heeba Shah bring three of the author’s powerful stories to the stage in an engrossing play directed by Naseeruddin himself, and with music by Vishal Bharadwaj. Voctronica, India’s first all-vocal ensemble, will bring their signature sound—a harmonious blend of beatboxing, Indian Classical pop, blues and rock—to the NMACC stage to make audiences groove to an eclectic song...
