Chilling cold conditions were witnessed in the state after active systems movement impacting the weather conditions in the state, Nowgong recorded night temperature at 5.3 degree celsius which was the coldest temperature of the state in the night on Wednesday. State capital recorded 8.6 degree celsius in the night while day temperature also recorded a dip and was recorded at 25.1 degree celsius. The weather in the state has changed with fog in most parts of the state in the morning. The cold has increased even during the day. There has also been a change in the weather of many cities including Betul, Dhar, Raisen, Rewa, Umaria, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Guna, Datia. The day temperature has reached 25 degrees and the mercury has reached below 10 degrees at night. The Met officer said that there may be a further drop in the mercury in the coming days. Narsinghpur has a temperature of 23 degrees. At the same time, the day temperature in Betul, Dhar, Raisen, Rewa and Umaria is below 25 degrees. Fluctuations in the night temperature are being seen in many cities of the state. Damoh, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Naugaon, Rewa, Satna, Umaria, Malajkhand, Datia, Guna, Gwalior, Raisen recorded a drop in night temperature. The temperature here is below 10 degrees. A low pressure area is active in the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, moisture incursion is witnessed in the state and clouds are being formed. Its effect will remain for the next one week.

Cold wave with fog and frost continued to affect normal life in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. Orange alert has been issued for dense fog and frost in Chambal division and in Panna, Satna, Rewa, Datia, Gwalior, Chhatarpur, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Jabalpur, Shahdol, Bhind, Umaria districts. In last 24 hours, intense cold winds lashed Umaria and Chhatarpur while moderate cold winds blew in Bhopal, Ratlam, Raisen, Sidhi, Jabalpur, Malajhkhand, Sagar, Damoh, Datia, Gwalior, Betul, Pachmarhi. Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Schools were closed in a few districts of Madhya Pradesh on Friday as the intense cold spell continued across the state, officials said. The lowest temperature was recorded at 0.2 degree Celsius in Nowgong town of Chhatarpur district in the morning, said HS Pandey, a senior official at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) office here. Traffic on the roads was thin in many parts of the state while people were seen huddling around bonfires. Schools up to Class 8 remained closed in some districts including Bhopal, Indore, Vidisha and Ujjain on the orders of the local administration. Dense fog was reported in Guna, Satna, Datia, Jabalpur, Sagar and Chhatarpur districts, while moderate fog covered areas of Gwalior, Rewa districts and Nowgaon town in Chhatarpur district. The minimum temperatures in Bhopal and Indore were recorded at 7.3 and 10.6 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures in the state hovered near 7 degrees Celsius for the fifth day in a row, Pandey said. Foggy and chilly weather prevailed in north and north-east MP. Datia, Khajuraho, Guna, Gwalior and Sagar cite saw minimum temperatures of 2.5, 2.6, 3.0, 4.2 and 4.6 degrees Celsius, respectively. Northerly winds following snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir brought the temperatures down in MP, the IMD official said. The pre-monsoon rainfall halted due to change in systems making weather conditions extreme hot in the past 5-6 days. On Saturday, the mercury was recorded at 46.5 degree celsius in Nowgong, Gwalior recorded day temperature at 45.4 degree celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be a possibility of heat like this for a week. Among the top three hot cities of the country, Nowgong was second and Gwalior was third. Monsoon activity could be witnessed only after June 10 while possibility of rain in Madhya Pradesh would be only after June 16. At present pace of monsoon has slowed down considerably. In such a situation, it has been able to reach only Karnataka by moving beyond Kerala. The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heat wave for the next three days.
