Monica, O My Darling ending explained — what really happened at the end of the Rajkummar Rao

What’s not to love about a film that’s got a twist around every bend? A classic who-dunnit tale usually subscribes to the idea of a single killer and multiple (connected victims), but this is where Monica, O My Darling stands out. Parallel storylines, multiple killers, dark comedy and strangely — a lot of cobras and snake venom — will keep you guessing till the very end. Although Rajkummar Rao does get the lion’s share of screen time as Jayant Arkhedkar, it’s the titular character Monica, played by Huma Qureshi, that holds the glue to the central narrative. Qureshi plays her role as an unapologetic femme fatal to perfection; even as you deride her for her unethical projections, you understand her need to resort to less-than-savory means to make it in a man’s world. But her dark ambition comes at a cost: a plot to end her once and for all. By Gaurav Sonavane When the story kicks off, it’s Monica’s murder you’re expecting. Through Jayant and his rags-to-riches success story, director Vasan Bala cleverly sets up his antihero protagonist. Jayant’s dream of breaking out of a middle-class destiny comes true with his ascent into the upper echelons of Unicorn Robotics, both professionally and personally. He’s made Chief Tech Officer and he’s engaged to the CEO’s daug...
