Shree Omkareshwar Temple (Pune)

This temple is very close to river and central place. It is quite big shiva temple built by Peshwa and maintained neatly. It is quite calm place even though it is in city. They celebrate festivals like Mahashivratri, Dasara in big way. Just opposite this temples, small ghat is available where last rituals are performed after deaths. This is one of the typical Shiva's temple in Pune and which most probably is the oldest one. It is located in Shanivar peth which is based in Old Pune. It is said that the temple was built by the Peshwa's and it makes you believe that considering the structure of the temple and its location. The structure is so strong that it survived the biggest Panshet floods in Pune. The temple has a beautiful shivlinga and beautiful carvings at the top. The temple is spacious enough which doesnt seem so if you look at it from the outside. The shopkeepers who sell the pooja thaali and all dat stuff are very thieves type guys , they charged us the 300 rs for the 21rs price thaali , so guys plz beware of them , instead this , the temple is good but faced the problems of no maintainence and no care by the concern authorities . Instead of dis the height of temple is very good and the place where it situated near the bank of river is awesome This temple is a very old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It has been declared as a heritage structure by the ASI. It is located in Shaniwar Peth in the heart of the city on the banks of the river Mutha. The temple was built ...

Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath

Omkareshwar Temple, where Lord Kedarnath is worshiped for 6 months during winter . Here in winter, after the closed the doors of Lord Kedarnath ji, the doli is brought to Ukhimath, where the five-faced idol of the Lord is regularly worshiped for 6 months. This temple is a specimen of a magnificent craftsmanship in itself. How such big stones would have been used to make it, it is beyond everyone's imaginations. By the way, all the temples of this style are built in the same methodology by placing big rocks on top of each other. Which is a wonderful art in itself. We visited in Nov 2020. The temple exterior is beautiful and looks great. The temple is housed for Kedarnath when the temple closes during winter. The idol is worshipped here. The idol here is Omkareshwara, very nice to see and pray. There are small shops if you like to have tea. Otherwise, a great place to visit. We went to this temple in winter just after evening arati so the temple was about to close for the day. But the priest was kind enough to allow us inside and also explained to us about the five Kedarnaths who were brought over there for the winter months. The omkareshwar idol was at the centre, behind which was the main Kedarnath idol along with the Madmaheshwar idol. The Rudranath, Kalpeshwar and Tunganath idols were placed at the side. We were really grateful to the priest for showing us the five different idols else we would have kept wondering which is what. Not only that he asked a security staff to...

Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, Omkareshwar

Beautiful old temple and Shiva linga can be touched. Some say it's the original jyothir linga. Must do if you are going to Omkareshwar. It's closer from parking and on the same side, no need to cross the foot bridge. Nandi is accessible too. It's good for photos. From indore the roads through ghats can face traffic jams. It took 3:15 hrs to reach from Indore airport. The AC taxi changes are from ₹2500 to ₹3500 based on the size of the car. Buses are available too though rebus.in. We visited this temple along with Onkareshwar Temple in a car from Indore. It is situated at a distance of 75 km from Indore. The road is good but heavily trafficked. It took us 2 hours to reach the temple. After parking our car in a parking close to the temple we visited this temple. It was around 1130 am since we first went to Onkareshwar Temple so the temple was closed for Aarti. We participated in the Aarti rather waited for it outside. It was a soothing and relaxing experience hearing the sounds of nagaada and bells with chants of ‘ Har Har Mahadev’. The temple reopened at 1200 pm and we were able to do darshnas in 10 mins. Overall a soothing experience Located on the southern bank of the Narmada river, the ancient Mamleshwar Temple, also known as Amleshwar or Amareshwar Temple is a set of temples with fascinating work of art and together with the more crowded Omkareshwar Jyotirling Temple [ located opposite on the Shivpuri mountain island ] constitutes one of the twelve revered Jyotirlings i...

Not only that he asked a security staff to show us around the temple privately.......and he took us to five kedarnath's lingams (probably replicas) and showed us some arms which they assume to be that of the pandavas. Also we were taken to a small Devi Chandika mandir and were also shown the place where they believe Krishna's grandson Aniruddha married Usha the daughter of King Banasura. I loved the hospitality we received there that also during closing time of the temple when usually people are in a rush to go home. Also we loved to get the darshan of the five kedars at one place. In case you are not fond of trekking but still want to get a darshan of Kedarnath visiting this temple in winter can be your best decision provided you can tolerate a bit cold. Also in case you are near Ukhimath during winters I would highly recommend you to stop by this temple. Omkareshwar Temple, where Lord Kedarnath is worshiped for 6...
