All online mutation applications to be cleared in 3 months: Bihar minister

PATNA: State land reforms and revenue department minister Alok Mehta on Wednesday said all the pending online mutation applications will be cleared within three months. Mehta said both the circle officers as well as revenue officers will take up this task on priority. He even cautioned the officials of his department of strict action, if any wrong was detected in carrying out the work. Mehta was replying to a short-noticed question in the legislative council by MLC Kumar Nagendra, who raised the issue of mutation being done from private residences, instead of government offices. Nagendra pointed towards the problems being faced by common people and corrupt practices by revenue department staff and locals. He particularly pointed to Bodh Gaya, Gurua and Banke Bazar blocks in Gaya saying revenue officials do not sit at a particular place and alleged corrupt practices. BJP MLC Dilip Jaiswal also alleged corrupt practices in getting the mutation done. He further said though there was provision of working from panchayat bhawans, majority of these buildings were incomplete and even if ready, the revenue officials do not sit there. Mehta said in case a panchayat bhawan is incomplete, the revenue officials have to sit at gram kachahari or public community centre.
