Oppo Find N2 Flip and Find N2: everything you need to know

As of March 2, the Find N2 Flip is now on sale in select European markets, including the UK. Meanwhile, Oppo has announced that the Find N2 Flip will also land in Australia on March 16, with pre-orders expected to go live from March 2. However, we wouldn't expect it to be available in the US, Oppo phones generally don't release in the region. It also doesn’t sound like the standard Oppo Find N2 will get the same wider roll out as the Flip, so if you were hoping to be able to buy the company's squat Galaxy Z Fold rival, you might be out of luck. As for pricing, the Oppo Find N2 Flip costs £849 (around $1,025) in the UK and will cost AU$1,499 in Australia. That makes it surprisingly affordable by foldable phone standards, undercutting its most like-minded rival, the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Oppo Find N2 Flip and Find N2 design and display The Oppo Find N2 Flip looks a lot like the Z Flip 4, the However, where rival handsets have tiny cover displays, the Oppo Find N2 Flip’s is a bigger 3.26-inch 382 x 720 AMOLED screen . It’s big enough, for example, to display six notifications at once. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 only has a 1.9-inch display. The foldable screen on the Oppo Find N2 Flip is a 6.8-inch 1080 x 2520 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, and 403 pixels per inch. Oppo also claims that – thanks to an improved hinge – the Find N2 Flip has an almost-invisible crease across its foldable screen. In all, the Find N2 Fli...

Oppo Find N2 Flip review: big screens at a better flipping price

Second is variety. Although Oppo’s foldable has the same overall form factor as Samsung’s Z Flip devices, which fold from a regular size smartphone down into a compact square to make them more pocketable, it has a much larger cover display for viewing notifications and controlling features. It means there’s a lot of potential here to do more with Oppo’s foldable without having to flip it open first. Yes, at the end of the day, you’re still going to be flipping open the phone for most tasks. But considering it undercuts Samsung on price with a very comparable set of features, the Find N2 Flip ends up being a surprisingly competitive alternative to the Z Flip 4 — so long as you trust Oppo’s durability claims. It’s great to see Oppo offer such polished hardware on the Find N2 Flip. When folded, the phone is a neat little square with no visible screen gap, and if there’s a difference in thickness between the hinge end and where the two ends of the screen meet, I wasn’t able to measure it. The phone is 16mm thick when folded and weighs 191 grams. That’s a hair thinner and heavier than the Z Flip 4 (which measures 17.1mm at its thickest point and weighs 187g), though only by the smallest of amounts. Oppo’s phone is available in a choice of black or purple. This seamless design continues when you open up the phone and get a proper look at its hinge. There’s no hint of a gap on either edge where large debris could get underneath the folding display, and the mechanism feels reassur...

Galaxy Z Flip4 vs. Find N2 Flip: Our long

Design These are both flip phones - well, the modern interpretation of that, with folding inner screens and whatnot. They also both have only two main cameras, and they have external screens, and our review units are both purple - a very, very similar shade of purple. Truth be told, that similarity in hue was what prompted us to think about this new concept of a comparative long-term review. It's impossible not to instantly realize what handset Oppo wanted its N2 Flip to compete head-on with. Although different on the inside, the outer hinge design is eerily similar (look at the hinge area when they're closed), we've already mentioned the color, but the corners' curvature radius is solidly within the uncanny valley too. Oh, wait, check out the button positioning! This is worth noting because Oppo has, so far, been very fond of doing its own thing in this regard, and placing the volume buttons on the left side of its slab phones, opposite the power button on the right, whereas Samsung has been doing the "all buttons on the right side" thing for quite a while. Again, the inspiration for the N2 Flip is very clear. There are, of course, differences, and pretty obvious ones at that. The Flip4 has a gap when closed, the N2 Flip does not. The Flip4 has a tiny external screen, the N2 Flip has a much larger one, although it's not put to use in almost any way in which you'd expect it to, which is a real shame. We are aware that the Flip5 is coming in a few months and will bring a la...

Jeff Li/IBTimes US Flexible AMOLED has been around for many years, with numerous major phone manufacturers incorporating the technology into their flagship devices. While it's difficult to determine whether foldable phones have firmly established themselves as the next mainstream phone trend, there is no denying that their momentum is not slowing down. OPPO entered the foldable phone market in 2021 with its flagship device, the Find N. It featured a lengthwise folding design, providing users with a tablet-like experience. Now, OPPO is introducing the new OPPO Find N2 Flip, which folds across the waist. What enhancements and benefits does this new addition offer in day-to-day usage? Let's delve deeper to explore its features. Jeff Li/IBTimes US Premium Build and Folding Mechanism While flexible AMOLED technology is indeed revolutionary, phone companies have faced the challenge of developing robust folding mechanisms that require substantial innovation and engineering. These mechanisms must withstand the repeated folding and unfolding of the device, while also accommodating the bending radius of the AMOLED display. Additionally, they must effectively prevent dust and debris from entering, as these can negatively impact the folding mechanism. Meeting all these requirements is undoubtedly a tall-order for manufacturers. Indeed, considering that the OPPO Find N2 Flip is only OPPO's second attempt at a foldable design, it is impressive to observe the refinement in its folding me...

It can be used to access quick settings and check notifications, view the weather or your calendar. The display also allows for instant access to timers and even a virtual pet, Tamagotchi-style, but there's potential for it to do so much more, and Oppo hasn't realized that functionality... yet. The cover screen offers smartwatch-like convenience for things like timers. When the phone is folded between 45- and 110-degrees, you can leverage the cameras for everything from time lapse recording to video calls, without the need for a tripod.
